Labour Party Spring Conference 2004

Greater Manchester Police | 09.01.2004 11:15 | Repression | London

During the weekend of the 12th, 13th & 14th March 2004 the City Centre of Manchester will host the Labour Party spring conference at the GMEX/ICC. It is one of the strategic conference aims of Greater Manchester Police to "permit lawful protest, whilst minimising disruption to persons going about their lawful business".

In order to minimise disruption and ensure full compliance with legislation all protest organisers who intend to demonstrate at this conference are asked to make early contact with Inspector Walker of the City Centre Events Planning Unit on 0161 - 856 - 3111 or alternativley e-mail:

Don't be fooled by the police

09.01.2004 12:29

The 1994 Criminal Injustice Act "allows" the police to victimise the "organisers" of a demonstration.

As long as this law is in force it is foolish to get in touch with the police and make yourself even more vulnerable to attack by the police.

we will, like shite...

They said: "In order to minimise disruption and ensure full compliance with legislation all protest organisers who intend to demonstrate at this conference are asked to make early contact with Inspector Walker of the City Centre Events Planning Unit"

...fuck off, PC Plod!

free speech

09.01.2004 15:24

We don't want to be shut into "free speech zones" thank you Mr Plod. Where we can be marginalised, not influence those at the conference and be kept away from the mass media as you do your best to make it appear that everyone loves Liar Blair and his fellow war criminals.

Whose streets? Our streets.

I dunno

09.01.2004 17:58

I think the police have a point. In fact I think anyone of thinking of doing anything, maybe a gathering of 10,000 at 4 in the morning outside the town hall, should let this officer know of their plans so policing can be adequate.

There's a story from the miners strike, where cops in the north of England happily terrorised whole communities for the overtime. The miners knew their phones were being tapped so one night they talked about a big action on top of a hill in the middle of the night using only phones. Sure enough, loads of cops turned up while the miners were busy elsewhere.

I'd not hear of this conference before but lets fuck it up.

Fuck the pigs - TELL THEM NOTHING

10.01.2004 11:04

DO NOT TELL THE POLICE ANYTHING - THEY ARE OUR SERVANTS NOT OUR MASTERS.

WE WILL NOT BE PUSHED INTO

WE WILL DEMONSTRATE WHERE WE LIKE - NOT BEHIND YOUR SHITTY POLICE LINES, 100 MILES FROM WHERE WE CAN MAKE ANY IMPACT ON THE CORPORATE MASS MUDERERS WHO ARE COMING TO MANCHESTER ... WE WILL BE IN THEIR FACES - IT IS OUR RIGHT TO TELL THESE CRIMINALS WHAT WE THINK OF THEM, AND WE DON'T HAVE TO INFORM THE RACIST FREEMASON PIGS HOW OR WHERE WE WILL DO THIS.

WELCOME TO MANCHESTER MR bLIAR - YOU BABY-KILLING ZIONIST SLAVE SCUM. YOU WON'T FORGET THIS TRIP YOU SCUMBALL. WE WILL USE ALL PEACEFUL MEANS TO MAKE SURE THE PEOPLE OF MANCHESTER AND THE WORLD KNOW THAT A LYING BASTARD WHO HAS BLOOD ON HIS HANDS IS NOT WELCOME HERE ...

well, i'd like to apply to occupy the town hall on the first day and hang an inflatable tony blair on the roof, throwing out smarties to the kids and the pigeons. than a graffiti jam on the outside of the gmex centre (only gmp approved messages obviously), also we're planning a street party on the mornng of the 12th on the m56 near the airport (please bring loads of tag squad in case of any trouble makers) and then maybe we'll have a mass pie-in in st. peter's square after the closing ceremony. some of us are planning on busting into the place with fake passes and buckets of fake blood (just for you know who - but i wouldn't want to give too much away). with proper planning i'm sure we'll be able to retain the element of surprise nicely combined with legitimate political protest. thank you for your cooperation.

Dont forget the south east has its chance in April.

South east neo-labour is having it's conference in Tory leader M Howard's constituency
Folkestone,Kent. April 17th and 18th.
At the Leas Cliff Hall. It's 'rumoured' that Bliar or Brown may attend.

Lets demo against both the Tories and erm.. the LabTories at the same time....

Always happy to help the police

10.01.2004 16:56

As far as I am aware the main demonstrations will be held in Manchester City Centre, Manchester Airport, Manchester Town Hall, Stretford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, Bolton, and Salford with a continuing circle of demonstrations moving around and occupying the M60 and M602. Rumour has it the motorway will be blocked for a 50 mile radius outside the city with traffic chaos up as far as Liverpool. Some people have plans to hold an ariel demonstration involving hang-gliders but this is not yet finalised. There are also plans to tunnel under the city until it collapses into a giant hole. We are also training people with rifles to hide on the city roofs.

Is that enough to keep you busy on the day?

Regards
heather
