Ten Arrested at 'Banned' Picket

imcr mcr | 08.12.2004 03:31 | Repression | Social Struggles

Ten people were arrested in Manchester city centre at the weekly picket outside Marks and Spencers'. On the 27th November police informed protesters that the picket would be illegal under the Public Order Act anywhere other than the Peace Gardens.

Defying the order, picketers began a moving protest outside the shop and were arrested alongside others who had ceased to actively protest, but were known to be 'part of the group'. Police have imposed bail conditions on some of those arrested on Saturday, although none of them have been charged with any offence.

this is unfair.

How can this be fair on the Jewish Zionists of Manchester. Most of you probably don' even know what the palistinians are protesting against, so let me explain to you: Marks and Spencers underwear is made in Israel and apparently the protest is to "boycott israeli goods". But this aim is just a smokescreen. They are using this to express their anti semitic views and anti zionist views. How can you contradict me when a regular chant ringing out from the palestinians is : "sharon! sharon! cant you see? Palestine will be free." Also if you took the time to read the banners the palestinians have you would see how clearly racist they are. For example they had a big poster of Israeli soldiers at the aid of a terror victim with the caption "ISRAELI SOLDIERS ENJOY A KODAK MOMENT OVER A DEAD BODY." This shows that it has nothing to do with the israeli goods from marks and spencers but is purely a protest against Israel and would it not be called racists if people gathered together and protested against England, if England were in these situations? I understand that some of the zionists get carried away, but half of the anti zionist comments on this subject have been posted by people who hadn't even been to the protests.
half of the palestinian protesters arent even palestinian, just merely thugs who like to fight.
get your facts right anti zionists!!!

I called Manchester police

29.03.2007 15:50

I called Manchester police and they said that I had to put my complaint in writing.
I told them that I thought that it was very hypocritical of the goverment to demand their illegally seized sailors back when the goverment illegally seizes their own citizens.
I also said that in my city centre there are bands playing loud music and church groups preaching with megaphones and that they never get arrested.
I also said that the Mancheser constable claimed that the danger was that there were too many shoppers and that I thought it was outragous for them to demand we protest where there is nobody about.
I want to find out how much it costs to get some leaflets printed out and distribute them around my town.
Please do call them and write to them.
They need to understand that the more they oppose protests the more w will oppose them.
