Remebering the dead.

When the march first assembled it looked like it was going to be a poorly attended unrepresentative shadow of Britain's antiwar movement. However the few hundred that initially gathered swelled to between 2 & 3 thousand (my estimate) by the time it left the assembly point. Considering that most if not nearly all of those gathered in Edinburgh had spent the day at meetings this was a reasonable turnout. The march was led by Heidi Guiliani (mother of Carlo, murdered by the cops in Genoa) and Rose Gentle whose son Gordon was was murdered (by proxy) by Bush & Blair and their illegal war.

Those who did make the effort to attend were treated to a breathtaking view of Edinburgh. It was also a very somber occasion as the names of those who have died in Iraq (the ones we know about) were read out at the top of the hill. Everyone had a lump in their throat when Rose read out the name of her own son Gordon who died in a pointless and imperialist campaign that has only recruited more extremists (on both sides) and made the world less safe for all of us.

Nice to see the people participating in the photos. Right now (12:00) I can just see the people that cannot participate: the police has encircled a group - possibly of the Clown Army - in Crichton street car park (Bristo Square) and is slowly and meticolously seaching them and taking their names.
It's going to take hours and hours and hours...

I have been just upsetting my mind how far social politics of politeness goes. Also reading all kind of conditions and warnings aligned to internet communication make me to worry about creativity of a thought, freedom of speach, exchange of an opinion. Is everything what shall remain for the future being pushed into the mere subtile? Despise is tasteless, thus it is DE-SPICED!!!

Umm, no actually. Apart from the insurgency making public gatherings a risky business, peaceful Iraqi protesters are regularly shot - sometimes from helicopter gunships - by twitchy and racist US soldiers.

What do you mean "Apart from the insurgency " the only thing keeping people off the streets in Iraq is the insurgency. When is this going to sink in with some people. Look at the attacks who is being targeted US troops - No, UK Troops - No

The people being attacked, bombed, shot, abducted are those Iraqis trying to build a new post Saddam, post B'ath Party Iraq. Yesterday it was a line of men and women waiting to register a police officers. The Iranian backed, mostly non Iraqi terrorists doing this are trying to force a theocracy on the country because they know a free, democratic, independent Iraq will reject the mullahs, reject the oppression of women, reject the policies of hate and will lead to a free just society not dominated by religion.

Despite the best efforts of these people the Iraqi people are showing incredible courage and building a new Iraq with help from the US, the UK and others. It may stick in your throat to accept it but tough.

Congratulations to indimedia in getting some seriously bigoted and misled Telegraph and Spectator (sorry should be Scumtator) readers checking out the site... How anybody can espouse these views that "its a great thing we are fucking over Iraq" how happy they all are now and how much better off they are etc etc is seriously beyond me. Good god people wake up and see the real picture.. the reason for the total chaos in Iraq is entirely due to US and UK intervention.. we fund these crazies when its in our interest then get all "confused" and upset when they decide that they dont want to live in a US puppet where all the control is in the hands of US stooges and all the Money in Iraq (that which wasnt stolen and looted of course by other american stooges) is flowing direct to old cheny and bush and say fuck off out of our Lands...Please get back to your sunday tea discussions spectators, telegraphs times and all and get the FUCK OFFF this site... which isnt really your cup of teeee lets be fair hey...!
