It is IMPOSSIBLE to make the accidental mistake of using positive language when describing one group, and negative language when describing another. The technique is ALWAYS used to slant the readers opinion one way or another.

Now this is not normally significant, since the slant and the intent will clearly match in most cases. The exception, of course, is when one is reading articles in the Mass Media, or disguised Mass Media, as here.

The authors of this piece are WELL AWARE of the language trick. However, they are also well aware that their target audience is different from the BBC or The Guardian, so they are more cautious again to disguise their real intent. However, their intent is IDENTICAL to the BBC, ITN, etc etc. If they DON'T use psychological control language, they will actually be hurting their own cause, that of Israel and the racist thugs that support Israel.

Well the only bit in quotes is "complicates the situation”, but most people, with standard to above average reading comprehension, would actually assume that all the words INCLUDING THE WORD ***ABDUCTED*** were said by Haniyya- the ABSOLUTE intention of the person that wrote this piece.

The KIDNAPPING of a large part of the ELECTED government of Palestine was, of course, co-ordinated by by Blair's twisted racist monster, Jack Straw, who worked tirelessly during his time as Foreign Secretary to have all powerful Palestinian groups declared outlaw throughout the EU. The UN laws that allow people to fight against those that invaded their lands, and rape, torture and murder their people, were TRASHED, when in a racist show of power, Straw joined with his zionist brethren at the heart of the French, German, and other European governments, to declare open season on muslims in ANY MUSLIM LAND targeted for racist extermination by Israel.

The consequence of this? Israel may carry out ANY CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY IN PALESTINE with the complete approval of the EU. Therefore, when reading ANY report on the current situation, look for how the article treats Israel. Of course, given that Serbia and Apartheid South Africa at their worst had absolute support from the government of this nation, and you will be fooled into thinking there is nothing wrong with excessively 'passive' reporting of the crimes against humanity carried out by certain nations, because that is the journalism you are used to.

I USE A VERY SIMPLE BENCHMARK. If I ***KNOW*** that an article is discussing evil actions, I expect the tone to be anything BUT passive, especially if the person writing the article is aware that the evil actions are never punished or reduced, or if 'our' people or 'allies' are responsible. IN OTHER WORDS THE ARTICLE MUST SEEK TO DO ACTUAL HARM TO THOSE CARRYING OUT ACTS OF EVIL, BY EXPOSING THEIR EVIL FULLY.

An article that begins "Israeli Troops Arrest Palestinian Legislators and Ministers" literally sickens me. ISRAELI TERRORISTS TAKE MOST OF THE PALESTINIAN GOVERNMENT HOSTAGE" would seem mildly acceptable.

Now I pose the usual problem. Indymedia UK wants to 'pretend' to be a certain thing by seeming showing an 'anti' position to recent Israeli actions. However, no-one is going to confuse the official language of this site with, say the words of Dahr Jamail when describing Blair's crimes against humanity in Iraq. Do they consider the changes they made some time back to 'hide' comments like mine until explicitly user requested enough?
