Sack Parliament: Map and information

@ cartographer | 06.10.2006 08:38 | Anti-militarism | Repression | Social Struggles | London

Over the past few years the UK parliament and government have led this country into war upon war, torn up age-old rights and made the division between rich and poor to grow ever wider.

Attached is a map of Parliament Square marking out the entrances and where public blocks have said they're meeting. Below is all the information that has been posted to Indymedia about the event.

MPs and Lords return from their summer recess on October 9th. We need to ensure they can’t get back inside Parliament to stop them spreading their culture of fear.
Meet Parliament Square - 9th October - 1pm

Events on the day (as seen on Indymedia)
Anti-authoritarian block
"Taking inspiration from others who are taking action on the day London Anti-Authoritarians are calling for an anarchist bloc. We stand against all war and oppression, and see both the domestic war against 'terror', and the international wars against Iraqis and Afghanis, as being led by this government with the complicity of parliament." - 1pm Parliament Square

Critical Mass
"Let's take to our bikes, take the streets and stop this war and climate destruction." - 12pm under Waterloo Bridge
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/09/351934.html

Party@Parliament
"We know how distressing it can be to lose your job. In this spirit we will be helping sacked MPs and Civil Servants get over their distress of being fired on Monday 9th of October with a Party@Parliament for them to boogie away their blues to."
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/10/352665.html

Rehabilitation block
"A space for MPs to come find rehabilitation after all their years of war destroying, and community suppressing. We will be offering employment advice and support for all those sacked on the day." - 1pm Parliament Square

Love the map!

Very pretty and informative map. Odd location for a party though in the middle of a busy street, surely it will hold up the traffic for a bit? Does anyone else think Portcullis House always looks grim and forbidding? Anyway, looks like we'll be giving those naughty MPs a good send-off, though lets hope they don't become a group of scroungers on the dole. We could shout 'Get a job' as they leave.

Live in hope!

I'm going to this direct action on monday 1pm @ OUR houses parliament. The time to act is now! End the leathergy, apathy and disullisonment that tempts us all. Marching on a saturday afternoon does not seem to do anything to stop the UK government's war march and errosion of civil liberties, something else must be done. I live in hope that our voice will be heard! And goddamn I'm gonna try!

Days of Rage

06.10.2006 18:20

Hey, has anyone else noticed that this is happening on the anniversary of the Days of Rage protests that SDS and the Weathermen called against the Vietnam War in 1969? That makes me feel a lot more confident about Monday. It's going to be really amazing!

Not mad.

The police know everything anyway. They infilitrate, intimidate, provoke, use surveillance, phone/email tap, and in some cases even kill, all at the behest of Parliament with its sham democracy.
