What a crappy week this has been,
I'm really sorry you've got evicted, It was a really great space you had there, stay together, you can rebuild it elsewhere, and continue the project, the space you have lost, though a great place, can be anywhere at all. It is mostly you, the people that made the place so grand, this week has been riddled with losses, but it is never so bleak that you should give up, stick together and things will turn up alright in the end, kind regards to everyone in the centre.
I am getting sick of hearing this "It's for your own safety" line, who do they think they are? protectors of public satiety my arse. as always they protect private interests under the pretence of public safety. Don't let them break your spirit. things will be better and the world will morn the loss of the Dalston theatre, while the officers involved will have the knowlege they have helped to destroy a piece of common heritage, and a place where Marley, a god to many, have played.
Who is that fat cat in the suit?

Someone with no name and no identity

how we did with food, drink etc.......
it has been very difficult sometimes and less other, but never difficult as the condition of the people we are fighting with, the poorest, the exploited, the indigenous people and lots of other who are organizing to build something else then capitalism.
it has been difficult but slowly we organize better and some problem desappeared, other are still around but we have time and one by one.............., we are not in hurry.

good effort is noted by all, i salute your brave stand, all those involved , i can only offer the consolation of me old gambling dad, win some lose some
weve had two no shows in liverpool..Irish centre and the rodney youth club both shortlived
both of them brought problems but problems ...connecting with good things not bad
our faith in change remains strong and was challenge but not broken, the principle of building a movement of people to change things, by a city centre occupation to make people see a different ways, still is worth fighting for,for people to unlearn centuries of traditional servility and cast away fears and superstition in relation to private property, not to salute their superiors that is those with cash or fear authority those in auniform or with guns ..all these things are part of our ancient society and like chains keep us tied to the past to break them is our sovereign dut to kick ass and rock the city. just read the g8 stirling book..we are many they are few ..next building please.

ps we have a basement cafe planned under a bookshop in bold street liverpool compact and bijou ...when reddy or not u can all visit for some chow..

At least the i don't have to see those hippies again

10.11.2006 17:20

Solidarity..anti capitalism..at one with the people of the community...blah blah blah. I'm sorry but most of the people who were shacking up in Dalston theatre had little love or genuine concern about the communtiy of Dalston. They used it as a front and an excuse to sit on their arses and do nothing with their life except drink bloody herbal tea and moan about how the little man is getting bent over the table by the fat cats. Yes its a shame that a once great place is coming down and its a pity they couldn't fix it up like the hackney empire, but it has been an eyesore to the people of Dalston. The real local people have no connection or respect for the middle class dreadlocked hippies who are desperate for any excuse that will ensure they never actually have to take on any responsibility in their lives....Grow up and go back to Italy...

On another point, why are so many hippies from Italy ?

hy micheal, ,
well very interest comment, i guess you are part of the community of Dalston, and probably among the one that do not care about it.
a genuine concern about the community of Dalston? little love?
love is a big word and it can be limited for only one "community", but yes genuine concern and not only for the community of Dalston, yes.
i have no comment when you talk about excuses and blah blah blah, no time to waste.....sorry.
the last thing, some people had connection with us, no many, but we are not in hurry, and also it is very difficult to get in love with a "community" that doesn't love themselves. we will carry on trying.
after 8 month i was kind of looking for an excuse to take my life somewhere else, maybe you could be my excuse, but couse i don't want to give you so much importance so i think i will stay.
ho yes i will go to italy all the time my rich father will send me money to pay for ticket to take my son to the beach in sardinia or sicily that are wanderfull.
michael i'm growing up everyday and learning everyday, i hope to see you soon maybe at the peace mural on sunday and we talk a bit more.
you are full of prejudice.

a middle class ex dreadlocked hippy who is desperate...............

hey, sorry to hear it was broken up. But in truth all the room we need is in our own minds. Spaces for organizing can be nice, but can also be a hinderance. Now that the group is broken up, the ideas are circulaing outside of the community that was contained. the cops no longer have a way of tracking everyone. As to the poster who was shitting on hippies, I am not a hippie, punk... I have a job and a home but I support these people, moreso than I support the "corperate" agenda that i currently am living.
Love you all.
May the forest be with you.

13.12.2006 12:29

Hi everyone,
I would like to express my sorrow for the eviction and tell Michael that it is very easy to judge with no knowledge. I went to the theatre several times but I have to admit that the first time, even though I am myself a hippy (as someone fighting against capitalism, I don't have dreadlocks....) I had the same impression, the only difference is that there were a lot of french that day. Of course I changed my mind when I decided to go beyond appaerances..... Capitalism is so scary and powerfull that we may feel there is not point in fighting it. Better to close our eyes and follow the mainstream huh? Sorry can't do that. And talking about resistence I am desperate to get in contact with anyone from the Everythingforeveryone collective. Please help

My best wishes to all

dani
