C for Conspiraloon

This film is conspiripants. It is utterly disempowering as it leaves the viewer with the (wrongful) impression that everything is and always has been under COMPLETE control - fine if you want to kick back and relax because there's nothing you can do about anything. It is also inherantly racist, mindnumbingly boring and over-long (as all conspiripant films have to be since they have to explain EVERYTHING).

if its all conspira-nonsense....prove that it is, your acronyms not withstanding. it is not racist, nor anti-semetic (which amounts to the same thing). it is well documented and sources are listed on the website (none of which you constructively criticise). it does not explain "EVERYTHING", nor does it give the impression everything is under complete control, only that a conspiracy exists and that it has alot of INFLUENCE. more than enough proof exists from a variety of sources of differing bias, aside from this film. it is physically impossible to "have everything under control". its about stopping these things (at the end of the documentary) from coming into existence. what harm can this film do to an already largely apathetic population anyways?

please could you provide some evidence or substance behind your wild claims that everything is as YOU see it. ridicule wont cut it mate. if you (or your made up straw man "viewer") find the film disempowering, i suggest you look inwards instead of outwards. there are many things that can be done; protesting, getting involved with government, boycottes etc etc. thats what this website is all about!! positivity and hope, maybe?

Because it routinely ridicules the idea that a handful of dark-skinned religious fanatics could *possibly* overcome flight attendants armed only with stanley knives to fly 2 jets into World Trade centre and one into the Pentagon.

Of course, only a vast age-old, over-arching conspiracy of evil white men (including evil jewish bankers) could possibly pull something like that off.

Conspiracy theory offers a very simplistic view of the way the world works, it's comforting to have a story to explain why things are the way they are - ask any Christian.

Unfortunately though conspiracy theory ultimately serves the interests of power.

Whether the scummers who churn this stuff out suffer from *serious* mental health problems, or are in it for the money, or the kudos (see the crop circle subculture) or are actually paid PR industry disinformation spreaders is anyone's guess.

I think it's probably a combination of all of them...

March 15th was brilliant, i went to the anti-war protest and after i went to the brick lane showing of zeitgeist, i really enjoyed the (now ironic), multicultural nature of the situation, we got to see a sneek 25 minute preview of a documentary on bill hicks' life afterwards too! :-) (due to be aired febuary 2009, bbc2 bbc4 and.....? cant remember)...AND we came second place in the raffle!!

firstly, i like wanking.

secondly, the film does not attach racial bias to the hijacking of the 3 planes (nor the later blatently demolished building 7 you failed to mention), nor the fact that rich bankers heavily influence world affairs.  http://www.bis.org

the film simply uses the names and profiles used in the official news coverage of the september 11th event and the biggest, most powerful names in international banking. would you say the 'official' (office-all, meaing in all offices) understanding of history "is inherrently racist"? would you care if they all had black hair or blue eyes??

i agree, the linguistic concept is used to brand any idea or reportage that may be getting too close to the core of sensative subject matter, "false" or "crazy", by use of the media (media conglomerate opinion polls, discussion programs/columns, 'the news'), the word conspiracy is like putting a shit in an otherwise tasty fruit bowl of research, evidence and knowledge; forcing only the most hungry of us to eat from it (AFTER cleaning out the shit first of course ;- ).

this forces the theory, the subject matter, into obscurity and ridicule, hiding it in plain view, detering those who may be interested by way of intellictual prestige and conformity. UFO's? JFK? ghandi? hypnosis? why is it the only research into these matters is either declassified by government or conducted by independent and/or obscure researchers? (or dodgy lookin tv shows...)

"conspiracy theory" and "official *what you get from the news* theory", both involve you making a trust based decision on whether the information presented is true (most people choose tv because it is the most talked about, in your living room and widely accepted as truth, despite prince harry!!). so in that respect, all theory, conspiratorial or otherwise is only as valuable as the physical (scientific or otherwise) evidence presented/supporting it....and as you can never truely know anything from secondary/exterior sources, "you have to see it for yourself" OR make a belief/trust based decision. this is precisely why the scientific method exists, to advance, through use of experiments and established evidence, knowledge about a subject. nothing is absolute or infallable though. when i drop my phone, it falls at freefall speed; no resistance.
trust me when i say; china exists 'more', when you've been there yourself.

i like this comment too, however, flying an earoplane can be a very complicated thing, until you've recieved military training and been a pilot for 40 years (or own sophisticated remote control computer software). in actual fact, walking, is an extremely complicated thing that must be mastered for some years after birth, once its under your belt though, its very simple. my point being, simple and complicated are relative only to ones understanding, knowledge and/or experience.

i personally think conspiracy theory is extremely complicated due to the amount of detail most theorists or independent researchers must go into and the fact that in order to understand it, you must also understand and be familiar with, the often opposing official 'theory' or version of events. cross referencing informational skills are essential.

i also like the way you compared christianity to conspiracy theories, very tactful ;- ).
my problem with christianity is i cant see ANY decent fruit worth eating that hasn't gone off or got shit smeared all over it, metaphorically speaking, though i sometimes nibble at the raisins around the edges (higher power). dont eat moldy things though, they're bad for you and you'll likely become ill lol

this sounds like every person, organisation or entity i see in the mainstream media, you've got your over powered, super healthy, skeptical mind only pointing in one (wrong) direction mate. ANYONE can be scamming you, even (especially?) if they come from the BBC, ITV, CNN or any other money weilding multi-national corporation (they have more power), infact, your right, even the conspiracy theorists could be scamming you. EVERYONE could be scamming you. you could even be mistaken and thus scamming yourself!

enjoy that dark closed in little corner of arrogance where everything is as YOU see it lol. i choose to know that i dont know and could be wrong at any moment, sufficient evidence supporting, this is also known as a flexible opinion. im still learning.

coincidently alot of the many crop circle pictures in circulation are real last time i checked, it only takes one for the subject to be viable and the reason it has a subculture is because they are unexplained. explain all (all, not just some or half) the evidence to be forged and you'll have some ground to stand on.
