The revolutionary movement in Greece is getting stronger

unin | 18.03.2009 10:58 | Analysis | Globalisation | Workers' Movements

Day after day more people show resistance against our goverment.Every day, specially in Athens, demonstrations are organized. This "small"revolution will not stop.

Hi,
from Athens!I don't know what the British newspapers and television says about what happent in grecce last December after the murder of a 15year old boy by a cop!But this 'small' revolution in all major cities in Greece not only has not stopped but the movement is getting bigger and stronger every day.The greek goverment and the police, are afraid that this "small" revolution can lead to a real revolution. That is the reason, the greek police asked for help from the Scotland Yard,to take the situation under control(Officers of Skotland Yard arrived in Athens yesterday).Because for the first time after 2nd world war in a capitalistic country, that is a member of the european union,Greek authorities feel the danger that this system may collapse in our country! The goverment is trying with new laws to terrify people to go to demonstrations, laws like...if someone covers his face during demonstrations,he is a suspect for terrorist actions!!!How can someone not cover his face to protect his self from teargas??
If someone with covered face get arrested,he will spent 2-10 years in jail.
And Greek police doesn't use simple teargas (cs) but dangerous and forbidden chemicals that are life threatening, and are used as chemical weapons in wars. Most of them imported from Israel. Also the european union is afraid that this"virus of revolution"that started here in Greece, can "infect"other european countries.Already in France some days ago a group attacked with a shotgun to a police station. The global financial crisis + the riots in Greece, are a bomb ready to explode and make this system collapse.
WE ASK FOR SOLIDARITY FROM THE BRITISH CITIZENS AND ORGANIZATIONS!THIS CAN BE THE BEGINING OF A GLOBAL REVOLUTION!
WE JUST STARTED OUR REVOLUTION
AND WE WILL NOT STOP!!!

Dead prisoner in Greece

#46, 14.05: Prisoner Katerina Goulioni dies in police custody under mysterious circumstances; new government law against hoodies
Wednesday, March 18, 2009

According to various newssite reports, prisoner Katerina Goulioni, prisoner and militant prisoners’ rights activist, has died in police custody this morning.

UPDATE, 15.48 Latest comments from IMC Athens reveal that Katerina was on the same boat to Crete with fascist prisoner “Periandros”. Periandros attacked anarchist prisoner Yannis Dimitrakis outside the boat (Yannis is in the hospital but is now ok in his health), only to be later attacked back by other prisoners in his own cell.

Katerina, who was held at the prison of Thiva in mainland Greece, was under transfer to Crete. In the boat from Pireaus to Crete, the guards forced her to sit alone, 15 seats behind the other prisoners, hands tied behind the back. At 6am this morning Katerina was found dead; according to testimonies by other prisoners, she was badly hit on the face.

The coroner refuses to give out any information before the official report, which is not expected before next week. Prisoners at the prison of Thiva already refuse their meals.

Katerina was one of the most active prisoners in defence of prisoners’ rights and was often put in isolation.

(This is breaking news, more will hopefully follow)

Meanwhile, the conservative government’s justice minister has announced a new law, echoing the often-repeated demand of LAOS, the extreme-right parliamentary party. According to the new law, those arrested and convicted of crimes while concealing their identity will be facing longer charges - ranging between 2 and 10 years more. This is not a german-style banning of hoodies all together (which has also been suggested by LAOS) and is virtually inneforcible.
