Anti capitalism campaign short-listed in global logo exposure competition

Sir Freelancerlot | 04.03.2010 08:41 | Globalisation | Technology | Workers' Movements

A London man whose entry in the Freelancer.com, 'expose our logo competition' features an anti-capitalist theme has made it in to the top 10 from over 2,000 entries.

30 year old Saif Bonar, from South London, devised a character, Sir Freelancerlot, whose mission was to spread the word on the positive lifestyle offered to freelance workers on Freelancer.com – his campaign slogans - “Break free” and “Fly free” - were used in the on-street activity which saw Freelancerlot roam the streets of Central London last week.

The video entry for the competition begins with the story of Freelancerlot, whose aim is to convince the ubiquitous wage slaves that there is an alternative way of life. That they could escape the grip of the Dragon of Big Business, and fly free with the Hummingbird of Freelancer.com.

Saif, a Freelance worker who runs his own web design and online marketing business has worked as a freelancer on and off for over 10 years, filling the lean times with bouts of work for UK charities.

In line with the anti-capitalist message, Saif has pledged to share 50% of any winnings from the competition with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a leading charity carrying out research with the aim of identifying a cure for the disease.

On being short-listed as a top 10 entry, Sir Freelancerlot said “Its great to be up there at this late stage of the competition, my London mission was great fun, but the undertone was serious.” He explained “In the Western world the work-life balance of the average person is pretty poor and although freelancing may not be viable for everyone, many people can escape a cycle of misery endured in working for big business by going it alone and selling their skills, experience and expertise to other like-minded entrepreneurs, small businesses and individuals. Freelancer.com is one of the primary global marketplaces in which this can be done”.

The competition winner is due to be announced on 12th March 2010!

Voting for the 2nd place “People's vote” is now open on the Freelancer.com website, where you can also watch the full length video entry by clicking the image thumbnail alognside his entry:  http://bit.ly/9XbH4C
