Why So Small?
When Tony Blair appeared before the Chilcott Inquiry on Fri 29 Jan 10, the Stop the War Coalition was still effectively a front for the Socialist Workers Party, and had the resources to mount a considerable all-day protest on the streets outside: for instance, see my Action Report:
• Tony Blair's Judgement Day – Pix-&-Vidz, Fri 29 Jan 10
»  http://london.indymedia.org.uk/articles/4250

Five weeks later, following the mass of expulsions and resignations from the SWP, particularly of (ex-)members involved with running the StWC, the latter seemed only able to mount a lacklustre two hour protest, even though the serving Prime Minister (who effectively paid for the death-dealing military operation) was this day's high value target. I had erroneously assumed the protest would be at least as large and long as 'Tony Blair's Judgement Day', and arrange to meet a comrade there at 10:00 – but there was no sound system, no stage, and by that time only a handful of protesters left.

In contrast, it seems likely that, on the same day, the SWP sank their resources into the 100s-strong Unite Against Fascism counter-demonstration to a march planned by the English Defence League: for more information, see my Action Report:

Whatever Next?
The Great COP-15 Cop-Out in December 2009 showed how the Powers That Be cannot even be prevailed upon to meet their own woefully low expectations in co-operating to halt the Catastrophic Climate Chaos Crisis into which they are plunging humanity and our ecosphere. So it's time to begin making ourselves ungovernable by their Parliamentary representative democracy, by developing our own Participatory direct democracy – through the People's Assemblies called for by the emergent Climate Justice International. And in doing so, we can help ensure Blair, Brown and their ilk won't be able to prosecute future overseas wars, and successfully marginalise racists and fascists.

Over three Election Meltdown Mobilisation gatherings, our numbers, reach and plans have grown from strength to strength. From co-creating a May Day Carnival in Parliament Square, fed by four convergent Carnival Parades, to taking up the call from the Climate Justice International to convene People's Assemblies in the Square and elsewhere, these are exciting times for those who would actively create a popular, truly democratic, and ecologically harmonious future for human civilisation and our biosphere. We're an Open Network collective, open to individuals and groups who'd like to collaborate face-to-face and online, to build a better world for all life on Earth – so YOU are invited, to help broaden out these initiatives, add in your own to the mix, and spread the word before the UK general election: there IS a 'System Change not Climate Change' alternative to the mainstream party's planet-wrecking austerity measures – because We Weave Our Destiny With Our Own Hands!

“The English people believes itself to be free; it is gravely mistaken; it is free only during election of members of parliament; as soon as the members are elected, the people is enslaved; it is nothing. In the brief moment of its freedom, the English people makes such a use of that freedom that it deserves to lose it.” ~ Jean-Jacques Rousseau (French philosopher and writer whose novels inspired the leaders of the French Revolution, 1712-1778)

“Real change comes about not because we vote for it, but because we fight for it, shout for it, work for it. Placing hopes and fears on who holds power, or who will gain power through voting, is wasting time which might be spent in creating alternatives, both for ourselves and for our communities.” ~ Chumbawamba, 1987
