Union Jack nationalists invade St George Square

During the afternoon of 19th Sept a large group of YES supporters met up. There was songs poems and all kinds of solidarity. Then the union Jacks began to gather on the side of the square close to the Council buildings. By late afternoon there was hundreds of them. Some guy threw a flare and then a mass of flags began to charge towards the street. I don't know why the charged the road but then they stopped and advanced towards the YES supporters. There was some skirmishes but the police quickly seperated the two groups. Many of the Union Jack guys started making NAZI salutes and shouting abuse at the YES supporters. Some of these guys have been identified as loyalists or SDL, but whatever their group I would say they were NAZIS. Another guy said he saw a few thugs with jackets with the names of NAZI punk bands.
There was a stand off that lasted for a while but the NAZIS began to slowly infiltrate the YES side and began to provoke people with their flags and sectarian abuse. Some people ignored them but when anybody reacted they would be surrounded by small group of thugs would push them out the square. One skinhead guy with a long leather jacket who must have been in his fifties was always harassing the young people in the square. But he alway made sure he had plenty of thugs with him if he got into trouble. I heard this coward taunt some guy who backed of when faced with about eight NAZIS. There was one guy with white hair and a union jack tie who was screaming abuse at teenage girls but they stood their ground. He pointed to his tie, 'this is the true flag'. I felt like telling him it was a tie not a flag.
When I called one guy a fascist he gave me a salute. They were also singing sectarian songs, and the usual racist carbage. Whilst I was tieing my shoelaces two guys hung a St Georges flag over me. When I said that was the flag of England he actually said that it was the true flag of Scotland. The other guy said it was the flag of Ulster. Nether two could agree what the flag was. The NAZIS slowly took over the square. They were organised and the YES supporters hadn't expected this. They were coming off the trains at Queens Street and people were saying they were insulting passersby, with 'hope you are not a Yes supporter?'. Although they took over the square there was plenty of people still standing up to them, especially the young YES supporters despite being intimidated by aged thugs, especially the white haired guy with the union jack tie. He also wore a dinner jacket, as if he had just had just come from a meal with Nick Griffin. He seemed to be
forever screaming. But some of the young NAZIS were just as bad being encouraged by the older thugs. One of the guys shouted that 'we are the indigeous people of this country', and then sang 'rule Britannia, Britania rules the waves'. I also witnessed a miracle, a NAZIS on crutches took offense at a saltire and dropped the crutches and ran like a whippet at this young guy. Then ran back to his pals when the young guy stood up to him.
They then marched to Buchanan street then around to outside Queens Street station. They were firing flares despite kids and children in the square. Police and police horses were deployed to seperate the NAZIS from other groups of Glaswegians standing up to their thuggery. After a while those that were left on the square decided to leave as it was getting dark and there were some dodgy NAZIS hanging around.
The newspaper reports have played it down. I don't think anything like that will happen again for a while as it must have cost a fortune to organise that especially with the amount of flags and union jack hats and badges. Unlees they get financed at RFC games.These guys claim they were celebrating the no vote, but I don't think any of these fascist screwballs actaully campaigned for a no vote. And do these guys actually vote?
Although the YES voters were taken by surprise by a cowardly mobilization they stood their ground as best as they could and did great.
