Your mortgage, the worlds hungry, the next wars . . . .Remember this weeks G7,

12-04-2008 10:49

Big picture thinking is a stretch for the people meeting in Washington, but it seems the bulk of the commentators in the newspapers this weekend havent added their 2 + 2 together - forgetting to remember the reason wars often happen, forgetting to see the "creditcrunch/ meltdown/ depression/ crash" is a bit of the same jigsaw as the disastrous, exponential increase in the "cost" of staple foods to the worlds poor.

War, What Is It Good For . . . . $3,000,000,000,000 - Remember !

11-03-2008 18:29

As the UK cost of the Iraq war doubles, the amount that the war has cost the US taxpayer is recalculated by the global economist who was last years "Reith" lecturer, but is at present amongst the experts lending their support to Obama . . . . Where did the spin come from is a SERIOUS question as odd things happen across the world that seem to provoke wars or wreck peace.
We have to stop the wreckers.

Peace activist challenges Trident nuclear weapons in court

10-03-2008 21:51

The legality of Britain’s Trident nuclear weapons was challenged in court last Friday in the trial of a peace activist from London.

PEACE campaigner Daniel Viesnik, 33, from north London questioned the legality of Trident nuclear weapons before Newbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday 7 March as he faced trial on the minor charge of obstructing the highway. The alleged offence involved a peaceful sit-down protest that took place on 27 July 2007 at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) at Aldermaston [1] in Berkshire, in the southeast of England, where Britain’s nuclear warheads are manufactured. According to Mr Viesnik, the protest was a statement of his passionate opposition to nuclear weapons in general and to the British Government’s plans to replace or renew Trident.

British Forces & Press Sleepwalking Into World War III?

29-11-2007 01:45

US Fifth Fleet - to be sacrificed in a new 'Gulf Of Tonkin'?
Recent revelations from the French Voltaire Network (part of 9/11 Truth, France) suggest the Neocon Fascist Madmen plan to sacrifice the eight ships that comprise the US Fifth Fleet in a Gulf Of Tonkin style mock retaliation for a US or Israeli strike on an Iranian reactor. It looks as if this may be the third attempt in the last 12 months by Neocons to create a massive 'incident' to trigger a World War.

Anti-Trident Protest in Edinburgh looses direction but continues to sing along

05-11-2007 12:20

In a slightly weird, but entertaining, "People and Parliament against Trident" protest over a thousand marched from the Scottish Parliament to Princes Street Gardens. Though it was unclear whom the lovingly hippy-esque, socialising parade addressed its opposition to, it was good fun and meaninglessly co-incided with the "We love the NHS" demonstration in London.

Major factual innacuracies in BBC Report of Anti-Nuke action

09-10-2007 04:04

The BBC, probably acting on deliberately inaccurate information provided by the Ministry of Defence, recently claimed that an Anti-Nuclear activist had to be pulled from the water around Coulport, the Royal Navy base where warheads for Trident nuclear missiles are stored. According to the activist converned, the story was quite different.
