Conditions at G4S immigration prison 'worse and worse'

Since it opened earlier this year, the UK's newest and biggest immigration prison has barely had a day without trouble. However, Corporate Watch has learnt that things have become "much worse" lately, both for the detainees and for their visitors. Meanwhile, the G4S management is apparently recruiting new security guards as staff shortages have led many detainees to repeatedly miss doctors' and court appointments.

The English Defence League (EDL) clashed with police after a rally in the city center turned violent. Around 700 EDL marched through Nottingham chanting “Muslim bombers off our streets & no surrender to the Taliban”.

Having avoided being kettled throughout the day, a small group of dedicated anti-fascists roamed looking for the enemy....breaking away from the castle kettle, near the robin hood statue, they headed for the square to meet up with others who were routed by cops.....

the climate camp swoop successfully took over trafalgar square from around 5 this evening. here are a few pics from the early stages of the camp. the campers initially intend to remain there fro 48 hours. at present, police have no immediate plans to remove them.

While ordinary drinkers are arrested if they drink in public on the streets of Nottingham, the neo-nazi football hooligans of the EDL were allowed to get drunk on the streets outside Wetherspoons, and seemingly the staff of Lloyds Bar knowingly served alcohol to drunken customers.
