Day of action against adidas

On Saturday 1 December, people across Britain took part in a day of action against adidas. With actions at every major adidas store in the country.

Adidas have refused to pay their former workers in Indonesia $1.8 million in legally-owed redundancy pay. Other brands using the factory have agreed to pay their share of the $3.4m the workers are owed.

The Big Rig Revolt [1] kicked off at 8am Saturday with Frack Off London paying a surprise visit to the Chelsea Mansion owned by Lord Browne of Riverstone and Cuadrilla [2]. The Fracking Lord’s malign influence has spread throughout the government since he was appointed to the role of recuiting business leaders to advise government departments [3]. A variety of other actions are planned across the country throughout the day.

Dawn blockade leaves nuclear workers locked out

At 6am this morning 10 protestors blockaded access to EDF energy's nuclear sites at Hinkley Point, preventing the morning shift from starting work. 4 people in arm locks formed a barrier across the main access road at Wick Moor Drove in a bid to prevent further ground clearance work at the planned Hinkley C site and to protest at EDF's plan to extend the life of aging reactors at the Hinkley B station.

at the start of the march there were up to ten thousand students from all over the country - directed on an agreed route to kennington park in south london (hardly the seat of government), barely a thousand made it as far as the rally which then ended in chaos as NUS president liam burns was pelted with eggs as some activists invaded the stage.

Gaza Solidarity Demo in Cambridge.

On midday of Saturday November 17th 2012 around a hundred people assembled in Cambridge Market Square to publically express their objections to events two thousand miles away in Gaza, namely the disproportionate airstrike and missile response by the Israeli military to a handfull of rockets being fired by Hamas at Tel Aviv, which in itself was a response to one of Hamas' leaders being assassinated by the Israeli military earlier that week.

Ecostream Brighton blockaded

This morning, on November 17th 2012, a member of the Brighton Palestine Solidarity Campaign chained himself to the Ecostream shop on Western Road. This action was taken to demonstrate that Ecostream is unwelcome in Brighton due to the location of its main factory in the illegal Israeli settlement of Mishor Adumim.

november 5th #OpVendetta march on parliament - report & pics

up to a thousand people took part this evening in a rally and march and film re-enactment. after gathering at trafalgar square, several hundred people marched down whitehall, many wearing iconic 'anon' masks, and gathered at the gates of parliament, taking over the road and closing it to traffic for several hours this evening. as numbers dwindled towards midnight, it seemed unlikely that westminster would erupt in flames shortly after midnight as it did in the film 'v for vendetta'.

West Burton gas power station in Nottinghamshire has been occupied and shut down by 16 No Dash for Gas activists who intend to stay on top of two of the chimneys for as long as their supplies allow.

Early Monday morning around 30 activists shut down West Burton power station before climbing the chimneys to set up camp and occupy the flues in order to prevent it being switched on again. This action is to highlight the senselessness of a dash for gas in light of climate change and fuel poverty.

Protesting drones at RAF Waddington, Lincs. Some photos

Twelve people demonstrated outside the main entrance to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire today in response to the RAF's announcement that Britain is doubling its fleet of armed Reaper Drones from five to ten. While the demonstration was going on outside, the RAF was holding a ceremony to 'stand-up' its new drone squadron inside the base.

After the demonstration, we went round the other side of the base to meet Helen John who has been maintaining a one-woman anti-drone peace camp at Waddington for months.

Tamil death flight LATEST: lots of people off flight, news still coming in ...

UKBA did not try to get a deportation coach past protestors at Harmondsworth and Colnbrook migration prisons today. News is coming in of many successful injunctions throughout the day (no number confirmed yet) to get individuals off the flight. However some may have flown from other detention centres.
