A suggestion

13.05.2009 21:25

Why not simply do something else that night instead of attending this BNP event?

What's your problem with other people expressing their views and holding events such as these?

And what makes you think everyone else needs you and your sad band of intolerant and authoritarian 'anti-fascists' to protect them from the BNP's views? You yourselves obviously need no such protection but such is your contempt for everyone else you think them in need of your care.

What a dismal bunch of elitist misanthropes 'anti-fascists' seem to be.

Not many people vote BNP. I wouldn't be surprised if the 'anti-fascists' take some ludicrous pride and responsibility for this rather than crediting the population with any ability to make choices for themselves.

Guilty parties... bands to avoid

13.05.2009 21:43

Hmmm... bit of a change from the usual bonehead benefit gig (though I expect this will still be full of fat bald sweaty unemployed glue-sniffers with crap tattoos)

Two of the advertised bands have the 16th May gig listed on their myspace pages:

MISSION BABIES -  http://www.myspace.com/missionbabies
SUMO KINGS -  http://www.myspace.com/thesumokings

The third band don't list the gig on their myspace page though they do have the venue among their 'friends'. They're a band called RAZOR CUTS from Salford and ironically have quite a few openly antifascist artists among their friends.

RAZOR CUTS -  http://www.myspace.com/razorcutss

The venue is legit, and ironically has White Rose Movement playing in June (named after the Edelweiss (i.e. white rose) Pirates - young German antifascist partisans in WWII)

VENUE -  http://www.myspace.com/nightndaycafe

Wonder if the venue know its a bucket-shaker for the BNP? The phone number is on their myspace page above if anyone feels like checking...

Gig is now cancelled

Quick result..

Call me crazy peter but I find benefit gigs for nazis somewhat objectionable. Especially as they attempt to harass the left at any opportunity locally.

Objectionable gigs

14.05.2009 18:18

Antifascist, if you find BNP gigs objectionable why not simply avoid attending them?

Problem solved.

Nobody needs your protection from the BNP.

Who elected you to act on their behalf in this matter?

Nobody.

So don't be so presumptuous as to push your elitist, authoritarian nose in where it isn't wanted.

For Freedom!

15.05.2009 00:38

Pete, I really don't see your problem.

Anti-fascists (and anyone else) are free to ring the venue and register their disgust/disdain/distaste/whatever else at the bnp using it.

Fasicts (and anyone else) are free to ring the venue and register their love/wishes/desires/whatever at seeing the bnp using it.

The venue will then choose which route to go. If they choose to go with the anti-fash then you fascists are free to find another venue. If they choose to go with the fash then the antis are free to picket.

Do you see how everyone has freedom that you seem so keen on?

debate

15.05.2009 09:29

There is something of a point - the machismo - and rather like dressing in black/hoodie scarf uniform - also the really effctive neo-fascist organistaions promoting war corporatism, nationalism and its use of propaganda ignored by antifascists such as The Labour Party
( and the Tories ) - I could go on but this should be debated - the diffrerence between 'honest' deluded biggots and self-deluded dishonest biggots. In the modern would state torture can be outsourced to other countries as can slave labour e.g. Gap.

The problem I suppose is defining modern fascism - and its contradictions.

almost any English person would accept ‘bully’ as a synonym for ‘Fascist’. – George Orwell, What is Fascism?. 1944.

Still, I do not mind a punch up with delf procaimed Nazis - though I do think that makes it easier to take you eye off the ball and the bourgois administrators whor really make this war corporate system work - they do not have to pull the trigger themselves and they can bleat on about this pathetic excuse for a democracy. Perhaps antifascists should tear down the walls of The Guardian newspaper offices while people decide whether we are at war with Oceania or Eurasia?

Prescotts ugly toilet

Is the BNP candidate Wayne Taylor? And what is his band?

15.05.2009 19:08

This article is a bit short on information, especially if you haven't sold your soul to the devil and got a Facebook login. From searching I can see that Wayne Taylor is the BNP candidate for Pendlebury. But what is his band? People might like to be on the lookout for it in the future.

I've done quite a bit of searching and haven't found anything yet.

And Pete, assuming you aren't a BNP troll, neo-Nazis love woolly-minded liberals like you, since it makes it easier for them to steathily build up their power to get authoritarian control over us all. Authoritarianism has to be smashed at the earliest opportunity, since once it is entrenched it is very difficult to get rid of.

Just look how the Labour and Tory authoritarianism is getting out of control. If you think they are bad, the BNP would be ten times worse.

Strange?

20.06.2009 09:49

I find all this fuss over a band very laughable & very worrying indeed!
I know 3 members from Razor cuts & they don't have the slightest interest in politics of any kind!
they way you lot have cried about this gig is very worrying! so if you don't like someone they can't get a gig? surely thats not right? that makes you a dictator doesn't it?
another point I'd like to make - if i met a man who played great guitar & we made some great tunes - then i found out he voted conservative & not labour like me, would we have to call it a day?
Politics is the individuals concern & nobody elses - whether you agree or not!
glad i'm not in a band so you can't ruin any of my gigs!

Do your Research!

20.06.2009 13:43

The BNP are a legitimate political party who are supported by over 1 million people in Britain. They have many local counselors, 3 county concealers and 2 MEP's. And yet you still choose to waste your time doing childish and moronic things such as stopping a band from playing there music just because of 1 members political views.

Also you label the BNP Nazis because of there political views, well i think that makes you a hypocrite because this is something the Nazis would have done themselves a slander campaign against a group of people because of there beliefs.

Secondly, the event was not a benefit gig for the BNP it was your average amature music event, so next time you label something or someone, Get Your Facts Right!

I my self do not support the BNP but i would much rather support them than you!
