Manchester IMC Mission Statement

Manchester IMC is being developed to create an open forum for issues relevant to the Greater Manchester and the North West. Indymedia is an open publishing newswire tool used mainly by environmental and social justice campaigners world wide to communicate the news
censored or ignored by corporate controlled media.

This is not the place for oppressive or discriminatory ideas to be presented. Such posts will be removed. You can get involved here's how. We portray ourselves as Independent media. This means we are not paid, we have no bosses, no corporate sponsors and we don't have to answer to advertisers.

We think this gives us more integrity as a channel of information. We are not however impartial. Global capitalism has generated social injustices and oppression on a global scale, and now presents us with
the prospect of an endless campaign of state terror that masquerades as a 'war against terrorism'. At the same time it plunders the resources of the planet, abuses and exploits animal life and undermines the viability of the ecosystems which sustain and enrich
life itself.


Faced with these circumstances, to be impartial is to be inhuman. We are taking sides. We are taking the side of survival and social justice. We cannot expect corporate controlled media to offer us real criticism of the way the politicaland economic system works. An
independent information channel is an essential part of the process of transformation to a just society that enables the sustainable use of resources and the full potential of human creativity.
