London's gay art festival announced the names of selectors

GFEST – Gaywise FESTival has announced the judging panel who will select all the entries for this year's festival.

GFEST – Gaywise FESTival has announced the selection panel who will judge all the entries received for 2010 festival on its website:  http://www.gaywisefestival.org.uk

GFEST is recognised as London's premier lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) and queer cross - art festival for all. The three main categories open for submissions are: Short Films, Performances, Visual Art.

GFEST 2010 Selection Panel members include:

Ajamu : photographer and Black LGB & T community archivist and co- founder of rukus! Federation.

Ali Zaidi: artist moving fluidly between different artforms and artistic director of motiroti.

Campbell: accomplished filmmaker and programmer who runs BlackmanVision.

Julie Bindel: well known writer, feminist and co-founder of the group Justice For Women.

Julie Lomax: Director of Visual Arts, Arts Council England, London.

Paul Burston: author, journalist and editor of Time Out Gay & Lesbian section.

and Niranjan Kamatkar: artistic director of GFEST.

GFEST, an annual event in London's cultural calendar in November, is supported by the Mayor of London and Arts Council England for the past three years. Last year BBC London and some international media coverage described GFEST as 'biggest thing going on in London'.

Artistic director of GFEST, Niranjan Kamatkar noted, "I feel confident about the collective expertise of eminent selection panel members. We will ensure that GFEST programme shows widest possible celebration of diversity, reflected in the contemporary art works from LGBT, queer artists."

Deadline for GFEST 2010 submissions is 2nd July 2010.

The panel of selectors will choose the entries carefully in mid July and GFEST 2010 Programme is expected to be announced by end of August..

GFEST 09 presented a body of work from over a hundred LGBT and queer artists, practitioners and filmmakers in over 8 venues.
