Reclaiming the Oxford Night

CJ | 25.10.2010 20:55 | Gender | Health | Oxford

Friday saw the return of Reclaim the Night in Oxford.

Friday 22 October saw the third Reclaim the Night march and rally in as many years. For a bit of a background to Reclaim the Night see  http://reclaimthenight.org . I was not on the march, but was at the rally in Oxford's Ruskin College.

Overall, I thought it was a good rally. I liked the mix between people talking about the issues combined with a bit of entertainment. And it was all in a good cause - raising awareness of the ongoing battle to prevent violence against women - in the home, on the streets and in the workplace. Not only was it great to see so many more people there than previous Reclaim the Night rallies, it was fantastic that so many men were there. If we are going to stop violence against women, men have to be part of the movement.

I had a camcorder with me. Due to my ineptitude with video editing, only a small amount of the evening has been uploaded. But if you were not able to come to the event, here is some on what you missed ...
