The 4th anti-border camp in Poland has come to a finish. About 150 people took part at its peak; there were people from many countries there, and many opportunities to get to know people, network, make plans for the future etc.

A group by the name of "Bush's Backyard Surprise" passed out flyers at an Independence Day Celebration in Houston. The flyers provided information about the Patriot Acts. The Bush Administration ran the first of the Patriot Acts through Congress soon after September 11, 2001. The Patriot Acts severely limit our civil rights and jeopardize the safety and privacy of immigrants. This is second of many anti-bush events.

Today is Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 and this morning while I was listening to the radio (V-103) to be exact; there was an issue going on about people from Africa saying that black people were not cosidered or did not deserve to be called African Americans that we should be called Americans. Tihs really bothered me, I mean although I am a growning teenager, life and time are very intricate now these days. I just think that as people we are all equal as one.

The Trade Justice Movement’s major event happened this morning from 10am till about 12.30
At Oxford Town Hall
Trade Justice event supported by Oxfam, Christian Aid
and WDM

Andrew Smith, MP for East Oxford, came and discussed trade issues in an open meeting with people from his constituency. Antiwar activists protested outside due to his pro war stance and a refusal to engage in a public debate about the war. Evan Harris also came and talked with his constituency.

Further Iraqi attacks on US troops lead to one US soldier killed and four wounded in a "disquieting drumbeat of guerrilla-style attacks". An Iraqi boy was killed by American soldiers who mistook him for a gunman. American officials admit that the attacks are hampering "reconstruction".

A US soldier killed in an ambush on June 27 near Najaf, in mainly Shi'a southern Iraq, according to US military on the 28th. Two other US servicemen posted north of Baghdad are missing, possibly kidnapped.
