4 November:Vigil Outside US Embassy:Liberty and Justice for All...

17-10-2008 16:37

Forty years ago, protests were held outside the US Embassy against the Vietnam War. In 2008, on the day of the US presidential elections, the London Guantánamo Campaign is calling on whoever wins the election to change the record...enough of torture, illegal wars and the abuse of human rights and human beings. Join the Big Blockade of Britain’s Nuclear Bomb Factory! - Monday 27 October

17-10-2008 15:26

Faslane Big Blockade - Oct '07 (C. Gwyntopher)
On October 27, anti-nuclear campaigners will blockade the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) at Aldermaston, near Reading, aiming to send a strong signal to the British government that the public continues to oppose the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons. The Aldermaston Big Blockade, organised by Trident Ploughshares and supported by CND, Block the Builders and the Aldermaston Women's Peace Camp is intended to peacefully disrupt the ongoing work at AWE on Trident nuclear warheads and their successors. We intend it to be a colourful, empowering and fun occasion, with arrest optional!

Smash EDO - a fitwatchers perspective

17-10-2008 10:23

Once again the ability of Smash EDO to stand up to police bullying and intimidation was impressive and inspiring. This was perhaps most obvious as the police blocked the march to the EDO factory and marchers stood their ground against police batons and pepper spray.

Attack on U.S. Embassy in Yemen Linked to Mossad

16-10-2008 18:39

U.S. embassy in Sanaa, Yemen
Remember the attack on the U.S. embassy in Yemen last month that took
the lives of eighteen people? A group calling themselves "Islamic Jihad"
claimed responsibility for the blast. It has a nice, scary ring to it hasn't
it? "Islamic Jihad" also happens to be the name of a group that operates
out of Gaza.

Remember "Pseudo-groups". . . .how far back does that pattern go? "Blackshirts?"

15-10-2008 18:49

Recent information at least re-opens questions about "accepted" bits of the "historical" past. The intervention of those with pots of cash to spend on gumshoe types, either trying to smear, frame, or associate sensible-sounding types with "fire-breathing terrorists" is at least matched by the frequency of the same sort of paid gumshoe types ( sometimes touting for work, or whipping up "customers" paranoia to play a bit of "tail-wag-dog" ) setting up entirely "owned" false-flag operations, occasionally by dropping their people into a group then pushing serious/sensible people out ( either with a bit of character smearing, the accusal of them as "agent provocateurs", or wearing them down - or worse. . . . ) - but at times with entirely created groups - sometimes with several different "depths" (for when people unwittingly dragged into them saw through one layer of the spin!)

Shut ITT! - Full Timeline

15-10-2008 09:59

A mass protest against Brighton-based arms manufacturers EDO MBM/ITT has just started. Organised by the Smash EDO campaign, the event is called Shut ITT! and is the third such demonstration this year. Last June, Brighton saw the Carnival Against the Arms Trade, organised by Smash EDO too. The 600 or so protesters then managed to reach the Brighton bomb factory despite police attempts to stop them.

Below is a full timeline put together by the Indymedia Dispatch team. It's being updated as reports come in, so keep an eye on it!

AFRICOM: America's Military Foot in Africa's Doorway

14-10-2008 16:59

On October 1 the US launched AFRICOM, the Pentagon's outpost in Africa.
Commanded by a Black American general and incorporating State Department and
other civilian personnel from top to bottom it is billed as a "new kind" of
US military command.

Incorporating nearly all US civilian programs in Africa under its umbrella,
from trade to aid to public information, AFRICOM marks the militarization of
US policy toward what is already the most war-torn region in the world.
AFRICOM's planners offer their twelve year intervention in Somalia, where a
million out of ten million have died due to US intervention, as a "model"
for the continent.
