Nantes (France): Why are we occupying the construction site of a prison?

A group of several dozen people is currently occupying the trees which are on the future site of the E.P.M. (a prison for minors) d'Orvault, near to the city of Nantes (France), in an attempt to stop the construction. We want to show our opposition in a determined manner to the state and economic violence which is destroying our lives: imprisonment, misery, ghettoisation, the politics of "security", racism, wage labour...

The BBC have teamed up with Oxford University to conduct the world's most ambitious climate modelling experiment. We want to do better than the world's supercomputers, using a technique known as distributed computing. Join in the largest climate prediction experiment ever, developed by climate scientists for the BBC using the Met Office climate model.

Student Protest Against University Gag on calls for Ethical Investment

Since 2001 Students have been campaigning for Oxford University's £2bn investments to be taken once and for all out of the Arms Trade - and for the University to commit to Socially Responsible Investment. A paper due to be discussed by the University Council was pulled from the agenda at the last minute on Friday - so students made their voices clearly heard through protest outside the Council meeting this Monday.
