Today two men were released from Coventry without having been charged after the so-called terror raids in Birmingham last week.

Human rights group Liberty have expressed their concern about the media and political speculation that surrounded last week's 'anti-terror' operation. Yesterday Liberty made a Freedom of Information Request to Home Secretary John Reid highlighting the dangers of leaking information to the press.

Israel's Bomb, Iran's Pursuit of the Bomb and U.S. War Preparations, part 1

07-02-2007 22:42

Four years ago today, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell played a major role in persuading a gullible, stupefied and craven American news media and public - but not a cynical world - to support the Bush administration's illegal, immoral invasion of Iraq. He did so by presenting a panoply of lies, false statements and exaggerations about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and ties to al Qaeda terrorists.

Aufheben analysis: 'Lebanon, Iran and the 'Long War' in the 'Wider Middle East'

07-02-2007 14:53

Aufheben's (a libertarian communist magazine based in Brighton) analysis of the current Middle-East situation is now online, discussing the neocon agenda, the Lebanon conflict, class struggle in Iran and the Ahmednijad presidency, the Iraq situation, Hezbollah, the UK anti-war movement/StWC ... the best analysis i've seen, avoiding many of the common leftist pitfalls like cheerleading whoever fights America etc.

Saddam Execution Photos Displayed at Gitmo, Says Aussie Prisoner

07-02-2007 07:19

UK may already have this article - but I'm posting it because we in the US have not heard a thing about this on the US bourgeois press in 5 days - so here it is in case you missed it.

In a clumsy attempt to intimidate and terrorize prisoners of war at the US torture center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the authorities have set up displays of the execution of Saddam Hussein in the common areas of the torture camp. The story was found on the website of the Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald - Varlet

Cluster bomb inspectors in court

06-02-2007 21:02

The defendents
Today, six "cluster bomb inspectors" were in court, charged with Criminal Damage and the new offence of Criminal Trespass (SOCPA 128 - the Serious Organised Crime and Policing Act, item 128). The case was adjourned for two weeks, as the decision to charge was only taken two days ago and the prosecution evidence was only given to the defendants this morning. The case will resume at 10am on the 20th of February.

The Bush administration’s campaign of lies and misinformation against Iran

06-02-2007 10:36

As it prepares for military aggression against Iran, the Bush administration is once again resorting to a concoction of lies, misinformation and half-truths to provide the pretext. In his January 10 speech announcing an escalation of the war in Iraq, President Bush denounced Syria and Iran for backing anti-US insurgents and declared the American military would “seek out and destroy” these networks. He has since confirmed ordering US troops to “capture or kill” Iranian agents in Iraq.

David North addresses public meeting in Sydney on political implications of Iraq

06-02-2007 00:14

Another ominous sign of preparations
“The speakers explained the way that propaganda can influence people. What you hear in the media often doesn’t make sense. Like the war in Iraq. What’s the real reason for it? It’s about oil. Another example is September 11. The real reason for it has never been told. The meeting went through the way that authorities can manipulate laws and use them against their own people to achieve their aims.”

The “War against Terror” is a War against the People

06-02-2007 00:12

In this interview recorded by Swiss journalist Silvia Cattori in November 2005 - more than six months before the war launched against Lebanon by Israeli army in summer 2006 – Youssef Aschkar was warning that the destabilization of Lebanon, Syria and Iran was under way, and that Lebanon was the country most threatened and most vulnerable to the Israeli menace. In the light of the recent developments in the region, the accuracy of his analysis appears impressive and almost prophetic.

UK Telegraph Reveals Brit Terrorist Ops in Iraq

05-02-2007 16:16

It is interesting the Telegraph.co.uk, “Lord” Conrad Black’s online version of a neocon newspaper, would publish a story admitting that the Joint Support Group, described as “a cell from a small and anonymous British Army unit,” manages “covert human intelligence sources or agents,” including double agents, that is to say the Brits are engaged in terrorist operations, as long suspected.

FLASHBACK: A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties

05-02-2007 00:52

The following essay represents, in my opinion, the accurate and detailed plan of the present Zionist regime (of Sharon and Eitan) for the Middle East which is based on the division of the whole area into small states, and the dissolution of all the existing Arab states. I will comment on the military aspect of this plan in a concluding note.
