BP: The unfinished crimes and plunder of Anglo-American imperialism
Little did the masters of British imperialism realize that one of the most dazzling El Dorado’s in the long and tortured history of British imperialism would soon be born? Geo-politically it would have reverberations well beyond the region of the Persian Gulf. It was one of the most decisive steps in the march of imperial globalization, the speed-up the concentration of capital and the resulting imperialist rivalries.

Dropped a sheet of paper with the details off at the local police station, to get told that they'd check it off against the local electoral lists. This doesnt seem much of a response . . . .[Full Story | 1 comment ]

We need a crusade of popular social democracy
My Lords, I, too, congratulate my dear and noble friend Lord Eatwell on initiating this debate and I also congratulate him on his speech. I start, as he did, with a quote."From time to time in human history there occur events of a truly seismic significance, events that mark a turning point between one epoch and the next, when one orthodoxy is overthrown and another takes its place ... There is a sense that we are now living through just such a time: barely a decade into the new millennium, barely 20 years since the end of the Cold War and barely 30 years since the triumph of neo-liberalism-that particular brand of free-market fundamentalism, extreme capitalism and excessive greed which became the economic orthodoxy of our time ... The global crisis ... has called into question the prevailing neo-liberal economic orthodoxy of the past 30 years-the orthodoxy that has underpinned the national and global regulatory frameworks that have so spectacularly failed to prevent the economic mayhem which has now been visited upon us".
Those words, said in the past week, came from a Labour Prime Minister-not ours, I regret, but Kevin Rudd, the Australian Prime Minister.

This is unprecedented. The AR folks were right all along. Still perhaps MPs can only blame themselves since they´ve voted through the end of official UK democracy[Full Story | 7 comments ]

***Urgent Callout to save Trees and 300yr old walled garden in Salisbury!!***
Salisbury District Council's controversial new Council Office extension is about to see the felling of about 15 very large treesany day now, (some of which are actually in a Public Park, which means they're not really allowed to cut them down, but do they listen?!!) and the destruction of a 300+ year old walled garden- a small but precious piece of Salisburys history. The garden has been fondly known to the children of Salisbury as !The Secret Garden" for generations untold.Things appeared to be on hold but now they are pushing ahead to fell the trees.
Please please help!!
the tree’s JUST IN CASE the development project goes ahead.
