End war on freedom of media in Bangladesh

Basil Fernando: Director for Policy and Programme Development of Asian Human Rights Commission commenting on the present situations of Bangladeshi media freedom said “For a democratic government it is essential to facilitate a free platform of discussion and one of the important instruments of that platform is a free media, which is free from censorship. A free media signifies the right of free speech and promoting respect for differences of opinions in public discussion. Without a free media a democracy is blind, deaf and dumb which are lead towards violence not justice and peace. The Bangladesh government has totally lost the characteristic of democratic government.

Flashback: One person’s account of a train action – From DSEI 2003

We were a small affinity group of about eight, that wanted to take action against the DSEI 2003 arms fair but were unable to take an action together that involved lots of preparation, and the train action was ideal. It turned out to be straightforward, effective and VERY replicable.

9/11 anniversary: French, Italian, German media to leave US and UK in the dust

If you thought the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 would be an endless barrage of media coverage rehashing the official story and taking occasional swipes at the 9/11 truth movement, think again.

Well, if you live in Europe, that is.

This coming Sunday, September 4, three major European channels will air in-depth stories on the Remember Building 7 campaign. M6, among France’s largest channels, will show a 90-minute documentary about various 9/11 family and first responder groups, a significant portion of which will cover Remember Building 7 (click here to see the trailer). In the same vein, RAI 3, Italy’s BBC, will show a feature length documentary that devotes significant time to Remember Building 7. And RTL, one of Germany’s largest channels, will show a Spiegel TV special about Remember Building 7 and the 9/11 truth movement.

NATO's rape of Libya: Never forgive, never forget

NATO's rape of Libya is too ugly for proper words to describe. NATO outdid Orwell on this one, killing truth by calling war the responsibility to protect - by terrorizing, attacking, and slaughtering civilians like psychopathic assassins. As a result, honest historians will redefine barbarism to explain NATO's savagery.

Britain’s riots: A society in denial of the burning issues

The Times, The Independent, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph, 9 August 2011 Britain saw its third consecutive night of widespread burning of properties and looting as riot police failed to contain gangs of masked youths marauding several parts of the capital, London. There were reports too of violence fanning out to other cities across Britain.

Britain’s social decay has been seething over several decades, overseen by Conservative and Labour governments alike. The burning issues that need to be addressed to explain the outburst of arson, looting and rioting are endemic racism endured by Britain’s black community and, more generally, the deepening poverty that is increasingly racking British society.

6th Anniversary of 7/7

Six years on from an event with the largest single loss of life in London since the blitz can the Metropolitan Police, with it's long track record of complicity in facilitating Miscarriages of Justice be allowed to offer a 'narrative' which is so deeply flawed and suspect? How about a 'narrative' which has remained unexamined and unchallenged except by the July 7th Truth Campaign? A 'narrative' that has ascribed guilt to four men without their families having the opportunity and legal representation to question, particularly when the four accused have been denied their own Inquest proceedings? Or a 'narrative' deemed outside the scope of inquiry by the 7/7 Inquests, and a 'narrative' which has led to the demonisation of the Muslim population? This is the same flawed and unproven narrative that has been the basis for the questioning of multi-culturalism and a 'narrative' which has done much to fuel the race-hate and bigotry of the far-right neo-fascist organisation, the EDL.

Let's Stop a Bad Drugs Law Getting on the Books in the UK!

The so-called Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill, currently under discussion in the House of Lords, is already under scrutiny for various suspected threats to civil liberties, most notoriously clamp-downs on rights of public assembly and protest in response to the actions at Parliament Square. But let's not overlook the section that would actually REMOVE the need for experts of any kind to advise the government about drugs policy!
