Bringing you convenience in easy home Anti war demonstrating

Simon Willace | 09.09.2005 00:58 | Anti-militarism

Not Tupperware

WARNING............. Ignore this Demo leaders of the coilition of the willing and you go on the world stage lights out, unplugged with your phone disconnected!!
I've got the power, I’ve got the switch, with one posting, this I unleashed, I can flick you out of Iraq by Christmas, want to try me?. Bring it on.

.

Sorry, got well carried away there,a straight jacket would rip or tear, a little bit over excited, better now, quite clear.

I'm a liitle tired of majorities being ignored in a democracy. How do you feel?

Bearing up?, setting aside guilt, ignoring the reality?

That’s how we all cope; we just get distracted, no point bashing heads into brick walls. While concerns just get re-enacted

In comments this evening on SIM, Sydney Indymedia under the heading... Follow Cindys example an idea took off to do something about the Iraq war……

In his article Matt suggests we begin a vigil outside Kiribati house, the Prime minister of australias official residence, to end the war in Iraq, like the bereaved parent holding a candle outside ranchereno Texarse.

Sorry mate can’t , I replied, I don't do camp outs, me mum won’t allow it, she recons there are too many headlice and I’d be buggered head to toe by breakfast. I think she said headlice or headonists, but she thinks actavist are in it for what they can get, bloody layabouts and they are unclean.

Mums right most of the time so I tend to agree.

So then in comments as the threads developed a thought occured to me, a form of demonstration that leaves the suburbs littered with symbols, kind of like yellow ribbons which took off in the states like flies on a bulls anus.

This demo aint that pretty, as far as statements of sentiment go it smacks of…. in whose shoes we should walk….when sandles will not do

Heres how the little Idea went thisThurday evening Australian time.

I don't know what I could be accused of inciting ?

As a personal and affordable demonstration one could signify opposition to Australia's escalation of war support while the world retracts resource by...

Throwing an old pair of shoes into the air.

I know, its silly, but a simple and devilish idea.

I just had it, so its spur of the moment and quite unpremeditated. Honestly yer honner I did'nt mean anyfin by it.

Childrens lace up shoes, should be chosen, old worn recycled from rubbish or bought for a small donation, used like a red nose day totem, a tokenism for ever child or civilian killed in a war that should never have happened.

And for lasting effect tie the laces together and stand on the roadside kerb in any street as you throw the token as high as you dare, straight up but take care!
look both ways and if no police car is approaching launch you peace dove into the air. Aim is not so important, and fun for all the family.

The lasting reminder will weather and twist in the wind while dangling on mounting cables which have been put in place for such a community art project.

So handy, the hard work has been done before the show started, to save time telstra fox and your friendly overseas electricity suppler has rolled out thousands of Klics of cable for our exculusive use, all in a street near you.

So don't waste your time demonstrating to a government, 80% got nowhere last time when war was obviously a bad idea from the stat, so what few can be bothered now will not make a even a slight difference.

We know it, they know it, so what can change?

And beside where are our war dead?

Bring it to an end. In a Non violent time efficient way and iF a little reckless or dangerous be assured that the demonstration will wreck less and be dangerous to fewer people than our governments current behaviour.

Just think who would buy telstra with half the nations old smelly shoes as part of the deal?

Simons idea?, some kid down the street has been doing this for years, I thought he was just a vandal, but then, stop press, the Roman empire had troubles with Vandals all those years ago, mucking up and acting up, so maybe he's on to somethin, it could bring the power down.
THEY would have to stop, before someone hurt the economy.
Damn Simon! what a fucked up mind you have, I have a pair thats is just the right size and need an airing, no use keeping them in the shed.
Today swing shoes with pride tommorow welcome our uniformed Terrorists home, its something for everyone, take it on indy community, its about time we got active, and all we have to do is open a door.
Just the excercise I need.

And Boots?

In some countries shoes dangling from powerlines signifies drug dealing in the area.

So, I back this action in the name of anti-war profiteering. For a good third eye squeegie may I recommend the magic mushrooms.

Miller, Kraft, Nabisco, Maxwell House, Kenco; Bird's, Cracker Barrel; Jacobs Suchard, Toblerone. Smiths, Walkers crisps, Doritos Frito-Lay, Lays Potato Crisps, Lays Kettle, Cheetos...

These are a few companies that profit directly from war. To me, war profiteers are worse then drug dealers because they perpetuate wars so insidiously. The recent actions against ANZ in Sydney reminded me obout why boycotts are important non-violent direct actions that even my Grandmother, can take part in.

Do you want to know more?

Now youre back with me in Perth, fellow awarerians of Little Britain.Dam thats such a long way away.

Heres my final comment. and analisis

It only takes one person to start this demonstration and Ned in Perth has already thrown the first pair of shoes. Every one has the necessary equipment, and need not travel while enough impact can be achieved street by street suburb by suburb country by country and it will threaten power.

All the needs with all the convienence of tupperware, so think about it, and if you don't like the sound of wires then please chose a tree, fence or monument, its up to you, wherever will do, just make sure drains are not blocked and Trams/trains are not affected, thats all.

It is now out of my hands, and so are my daughter’s old running shoes, in the second delivery and my personal protest, which now can no longer be ignored. Very public and with others substantial.

I chose an underarm delivery, long laces, one shoe in hand and let the other swing in mid flight, wraping the lace thrice as the shoes twisted on the wire, nice, first go, dead of night. Very public, stark, visable, mobile

I'm in a quite street, nothing going on here, except a fucking demonstration!.

For those still thinking down side,

wires are strong, shoes can’t break em and
They need decoration.

If enough people did it, the amount of shoes, I doubt, will even get near the 120 000 civilians so far killed in Iraq, while America pretends to cry for victims of a hurricane, they got off lightly.

But I hope the numbers do match up, I really do, it would set a target for the month every month until the end of the war, and prove the idea was succesful, cementing 120 000 and holding that number until our troops come home.

No more just taking this and bank rolling continued attacks and occupations, no more winging, this can show them, we have the tools to fight we just need to use them

Non violent, peaceful cost effective, done and dusted.

Should have thought of it sooner, thanks Matt!

What a great use for smelly shoes.

Thankyou for your time
