Set Brum City Centre alight...with fun and frolics!

working class Brummie | 27.09.2010 20:44 | Birmingham

A national callout from Birmingham activists for the street party on Sunday.

This is OUR city and these are OUR streets. We WILL march, we WILL party (as we did years ago, see poster from 1999) and we want YOU to be there too!

Twelve years ago, in May 1998, it was on the streets of Birmingham, as the G8 clowns were meeting, that thousands of people took to the streets for a massive street party...and didn't we have fun!! It was this action that kicked off the world wide anti-globalisation movement.

The following year, on Saturday 1st May 1999, a number of Birmingham activists got together to organise another street party. The poster above brought together a broad range of people & groups for what was a much smaller action, but effective all the same.

Those same Birmingham activists now invite YOU and others from across the country to join us this coming Sunday, to once again laugh in the face of the goons in power!!

This is OUR city and these are OUR streets. We WILL march, we WILL party and we want YOU to be there too!

Join us and lets set the city centre alight...with fun and frolics!!

Meet at 12 noon on the streets of Birmingham City Centre. Exact meeting point to be announced.
