L'Oreal to buy Body Shop?

L'Oreal, the world's largest maker of cosmetics, has announced it may make an offer for Body Shop International Plc, the U.K. retailer of natural cosmetics started by Anita Roddick. Body Shop's share price gained around 13 percent on the news.

Hunt Sabs attacked by Police

7 North and East London Sabs are attacked then arrested by Sussex Police. Still being held after 28 hours in Hastings, no charges. The Police truncheoned the windows leaving one sab with glass in his eye.

Activists attacked as hunt breaches the law

Policing in November 2003 Anti-hunting activists claim that on Saturday 19 November 2005, the Ropley based Hampshire Hunt were chasing a fox in breach of the Hunting Act which was supposed to outlaw such activities. The activists were attacked by terriermen and supporters of the hunt.

Anti-hunting activists claim that on Saturday 19 November 2005, the Ropley based Hampshire Hunt were chasing a fox in breach of the Hunting Act which was supposed to outlaw such activities.  The incident happened near the village of Selborne.  One protestor said "A woman came running up to our vehicle and said 'the fox went that way through my garden'.  She mistakenly thought we were with the hunt, until hunt employees and supporters arrived and told her to keep quiet.  Hounds from the hunt were in cry - the noise they make when they are on the scent of a fox - and it was clear to us that they were hunting that animal."

Make room for an Elephant in your life

A lesson for humans? A blinded Elephant helped by another. Artist Geoff Francis is donating the proceeds from all sales of artwork in 2005 to animals and wildlife conservation. More than 500 paintings from his private collection will be made available throughout the year, including his very popular abstracts and many early works celebrating and questioning our relationship with animals and the planet.
