Brighton Biofools Day Protest

A group of biofuel activists made a colourful banner and flyer tour of Brighton city centre and Sussex University on Tuesday raising awareness around a new law which came into affect as of yesterday. The RTFO or “Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation” has mandated 2.5% biofuels at British fuel pumps from April 15th, and thereby hugely increased UK consumption of biofuels.

Mass Action: Refuse to Pay

A mass climate action is taking place on Sunday 20th April in London. People will board trains into central London, refusing to pay the high prices. There will be a convergence in the central London terminals at around 1pm. The action aims to highlight how the current public transport prices are unaffordable and must be radically lowered if we are to get people out of their carbon intensive cars.

I don’t make a habit of swearing, but this morning has been testing, to say the least. Formerly known as the “World’s Favourite Airline” until the world decided that it wasn’t too fond of airlines pushing out carbon dioxide into its upper atmosphere, British Airways have decided, in its eternal wisdom, to kit out a couple of Airbus A318s for its most luxury conscious business travellers.

XL airways court case results

Anti-deportation activist found guilty, 12 month conditional discharge £300 costs. ‘The judge said I 'went too far' - I feel my actions went just far enough. I believe that everyone should take whatever action is within their abilities in the face of social and environmental injustices like deporting so-called ‘failed’ asylum seekers to a country destabilised by wars over resources. I would happily do what I did again.'

Lydd Airport on remote Romney Marsh, Kent' s expansion plans were further delayed when the CEO of Shepway District Council deferred the planning applications full council meeting (due Jan 30) to a later date....
Demo's planned for the 30th are now on hold.

Nuclear-Free Future Walk - London to Geneva - Apr-Jul 2008

Following on from this year's successful 900-mile Nuclear-Free Future Walk from Dublin to London, organised by Footprints for Peace, the same group will be staging another this year from London to Geneva, through France. The UK stretch will go from London to Portsmouth, starting on 26 April, the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
