French police attack on refugees affects Portsmouth children

Tear gas sprayed on refugees in a truck in France has ended up harming children in Portsmouth when they played on a new slide which had been in the truck that was sprayed with the tear gas.

SHAC Financial Week of Action: 23-27 Feb

LAMBETH UNISON RAISES OVER £2000 IN SOLIDARITY WITH GAZA

The Lambeth Branch of UNISON, the second largest trade union in the UK, has raised over £2000 for Medical Aid for Palestinians through a fundraising drive throughout the Borough’s workplaces. Nationally, UNISON has committed to send a donation of £10,000 to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and Lambeth Branch activists collected a further £2020.43 for MAP’s Emergency Appeal for Gaza through a series of collections amongst Lambeth’s workers.

Unable to attend the Viva Palestina convoy send-off in London, I watched video footage of the occasion with tears in my eyes.

Here at last were people of courage and moral backbone... a dying breed in Britain, I had thought. How easily they put our leaders to shame.

Christian Voice Loses ASA Case

A week after the Advertising Standards Authority ruled in favour of the Atheist Bus Campaign adverts rather than the complainants (who included Christian Voice), they have stated that Christian Voice is no longer allowed to run adverts making unsubstantiated claims against the HPV vaccine, which protects young girls from cervical cancer.

On a rainy November 13th evening in NYC a large group of people gathered in Times Square, and then marched to the headquarters of GHI, a non-profit health insurance company which faces privatization. The marchers were demonstrating in support of the passage of HR 676, a bill for national single-payer healthcare, and against the proposed privatization of GHI/HIP.

On Monday 19th of January SHAC Hants took an early morning trip to the outskirts of Southampton to pay a flying visit to Promega, Enterprise Road, Southampton Science Park one of the newest found suppliers to HLS. We showed up around half nine, just as the workers were settling in to another long week of making money out of animal torture.

Rockwool factory destroying beautiful area in Croatia

the chimney flooding the valley with smoke Rock wool, whilst sold as an eco-friendly product, is a dirty thing to make. In the USA, Erin Brokovich is investigating claims that a now-closed Rockwool Group factory is responsible for the high rate of cancer locally. Meanwhile, the residents of the municipality of Pican, Croatia are protesting against a new factory which was built illegally. The factory regularly floods the valley with thick smoke.
