Paddy's Day of Action Against shell (Meeting & Update)

This Saturday (15th March) @ 5pm there will be a meeting and info night hosted by people from Ireland about the struggle of the people of Rossport, County Mayo, Ireland, to stop shell from destroying their beautiful & pristine environment by building a high pressure gas pipeline through their land.

Instant Muscle 'workfare' Job Centre contractor goes bust

Training provider Instant Muscle went into administration last week, leaving staff unpaid for February and unemployed trainees turned away from the doorsteps of their training centres. Staff were given termination letters as they arrived at work on the 27th.

Working Links & Freedom

This follows on from a previous article which was critical of Working Links connections to far-right Christian extremists. Following sanctions imposed on my JSA I have had a closer look at the relevant regulations and have found that the legislation appears to suggest that Mandatory Employment programmes are not quite so mandatory after all.

Re Secretary of State for Health Alan Johnson's release on water fluoridation

The DoH refuses to acknowledge extensive evidence that the side effects of fluoridation can be so severe that, were it to be classified as a medicinal product (as EC law demands) then it would instantly be withdrawn from the market. In attempting to remedy a small number of defects in a few children's teeth, this 'remedy' will actually cause damage to all of the teeth of half of the children drinking this quack medicne.

Anniversary Vigil: A year of witness to the horrors of Guantánamo - 8 February

For the past year, the London Guantánamo Campaign has maintained a regular presence outside the American Embassy in Mayfair on Friday evenings to protest against the ongoing arbitrary detention, torture and abuse of international law by the American government in Guantánamo Bay. Meeting regularly at 6-7pm outside the entrance to the Embassy come rain or shine, campaigners have held a peaceful vigil against the shameless brutality of a system that has paved the way for human rights abuses elsewhere in the world for the past 6 years under the “war on terror”.
