A peaceful demonstration will be held outside HMP and YOI Holloway, London
on Wednesday 16 January 2008, at 1.30 pm, for the duration of the afternoon
to protest against the death of Ms Jamie Pearce, aged 24
who died in the care of the jail on 10 December 2007

Squat raid by Rottweiler in Brighton

According to the local rag The Argus, a squat in Kingsway, Hove was raided on Monday afternoon by a gang of six men carrying crowbars and baseball bats led by a Rottweiler. A group of 12 men and women have been using the site for about 3 weeks and were so terrified that they had to barricade themselves in an upstairs room.

Zapatistas welcome the solidarity caravan against repression to La Garrucha, Car The autonomous indigenous zapatista communities in Chiapas, Mexico are under serious threat. Several are menaced with violent eviction, either by the Mexican Army, by paramilitaries or by organisations armed and funded by the state.
To show solidarity with the embattled zapatistas, supporters will demonstrate at the Mexican Embassy in London on Monday 10th December.

Sussex students pass motion in support of posties

The University of Sussex Students' Union just passed a motion of support for the strike, with reference to scab student labour in Liverpool, and with the intention of increasing student awareness about union organising. A letter is also being written to be sent to the Liverpool students' unions informing them about this and asking them to take some sort of action.

Good Morning Pie Face! At 4am Brighton police demanded squatters leave a new squat on Franklin road. Despite resistance by 5am the squatters had been evicted by the police, who were acting unlawfully without a court order.
