Filmshow: The God Delusion, The Cowley Club, Brighton (UK), 14/12/11, 7pm
Since the last national census showed Brighton to be, in the words of the clubs nearest evangelical church, the 'most godless city in Britain', we have had a rash of Christian groups missioning here - even coming en mass from London on day trips etc. One group has taken to doing so next to the club and this filmshow is partly in response.[Full Story | 11 comments ]

10 Years of Afghan War: Guantánamo-related events to mark anniversary (London)
Friday 7th October marks the 10th anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan on 7th October 2001. Before there was Guantánamo, there were black sites and torture prisons in Afghanistan where such practices continue to be carried out today. Nearly all the prisoners held at Guantánamo had been "processed" and held at the prisons at the Bagram Air Base, Kandahar and the Dark Prison in Kabul before being taken to Guantánamo Bay.[Full Story ]

UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox, whose private trip to Sri Lanka was pulled down by an embarrassed and irritated Foreign Office, soon after the fiasco of the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa's failed attempt to use the Oxford University for his despotic political purposes is now being sent there on an official capacity Saturday 9th July.

Every second Monday of the month the Shut Down H + K campaign in Nottingham hold a peaceful picket outside the Easter Park Industrial Estate, Nottingham, to highlight and protest the presence on the business estate of the international arms manufacturers and traders, Heckler and Koch. Heckler and Koch have been in the city for over five years and an arms manufacturer of varying degrees and under various names has been in the city for many decades. Protesters have always been around to highlight these scum and protest against them, as I'm sure many of us would expect.
