28-year-old Parameswarn Subramaniyan from Mitcham is not in good health as day 13 of his hunger strike comes to a close. He started off without any water and this seems to have done its damage although he does consume water now.Lots of other youth are joining him tomorrow in mass hunger strikes.
The demands are as follows
The demands put forward by Parameswaran follow:
* Immediate and permanent ceasefire
* Food and medical aid should be allowed to reach the civilians immediately with international monitoring committees and allow “Mercy Mission to Vanni”
* UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, arrange to meet our representatives.
* Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are our sole representatives and UK government should lift the ban on LTTE.
* UN should call for an immediate referendum to the Tamils regarding whether they want separate nation or to remain as Sri Lanka.

UK Customs & Excise resort to intimidation of and theft from pensioners
An extended community of old aged pensioners are held for an hour and a half by British authorities in Calais. Five are interrogated with malice, and three have £200 each worth of legally exportable tobacco confiscated. LGC calls for independent inquiry into UK involvement in extraordinary rendition
Over the past few weeks, evidence has been emerging and pressure has been growing for an independent inquiry into the UK's involvement in extraordinary rendition, both of British nationals/residents and foreign nationals with no ties to the UK, by being complicit in torture, facilitating the "rendition" (kidnap and torture) of individuals in Iraq, Pakistan, Gambia, etc. and allowing "rendition" flights to stop over, fly over or refuel on British territory. Calls have been made by politicians, including Conservative Party leader David Cameron, for an independent inquiry.Take action - write to your MP and the Foreign Office now and demand a full independent public inquiry!

Act Now - Reclaim journalism re:Sri Lanka
Vithyatharan, the latest casualty of the killing of journalism seems saved momentarily as the international attention is focussed on his violent abduction. The government and police seem to have produced him inside the system in a nondescript Colombo police station but for how long?As the UK parliament is being forced to act due to the mounting pressures of UK Tamils and other activists its inertia due to recent 'War on Terror and Truth' needs a push from us all. Act Now.

Worthing Freedom March Kicks Off
A REBELLIOUS 'Freedom Picnic' in Worthing, West Sussex, on Sunday (March 1) will kick off a month-long festival of liberty-related events in the seaside town.Publicity for the 2pm event in Liverpool Gardens calls on people to "defy the drink ban" and "irritate the town wardens", while bringing "food, drink and smoking substances to share".
It forms part of Freedom March, an eclectic mix of activities, including folk singing and photography as well as more traditional meetings, which is aimed at mobilising local opinion on the topical issue of freedom coming attack from the authorities.
Four days after the picnic, Freedom for Palestine will be on the agenda when a member of the International Solidarity Movement will be speaking at a Freedom March event staged at The Grand Victorian Hotel opposite Worthing station at 8pm.
The month will also include a talk by former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Desghayes at the Labour Hall in Lyndhurst Road at 2pm on Sunday March 29 and a protest against surveillance and 'police state' powers meeting outside the town hall in Chapel Road on Saturday March 14 at 2pm.

CND and the inconsistencies of anti-unilateralists
I am in favour of unilateral nuclear disarmament. I’m not a peacenik, in that I don’t hold all violence to be inherently unjustifiable, but the very idea of nuclear war makes my mind boggle. That we, that is, the UK, retain a nuclear arsenal with the capacity to wipe out millions if not hundreds of millions of lives is effectively a crime against all humanity. I’ve met a few Labourite activists who believe we should keep our weapons, but I’ve never yet met one who is consistent about it.[Full Story ]

Israelis, in Crisis, Vote for a Government of War
Dust of Tuesday's voting battle settled down and the battle of forming the next Israeli government has just begun. With Benjamin Netanyahu poised for premiership and Avigdor Lieberman, leader of a “racist and fascist” party (as condemned by Talia Sasson of the Merez party) very well positioned to be the king or queen maker of the next ruling coalition, the Palestinian people and the whole region will have to brace as from next March for an Israeli government of war.[Full Story ]
