On friday, the Broadway cinema screened 'An Inconvenient Truth'.
Following the screening a panel of local and regional decision makers respond to the film
and answered [or tried to :-))] questions about what's happening here in Nottingham and the
East Midlands already, and suggest how we can do more.
The film offered a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt
global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions
that surround it.
That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election,
re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the
planet from irrevocable change.
Paramount Classics and Participant Productions present the film directed by Davis
Guggenheim, 'An Inconvenient Truth'. Featuring Al Gore, the film is produced by Laurie
David, Lawrence Bender and Scott Z. Burns. Jeff Skoll and Davis Guggenheim are the
executive producers and the co-producer is Leslie Chilcott.

These are all people who will say what they need to to look green, give out some low-energy lightbulbs and stick up a few wind turbines, but continue to develop at all costs. And as the film (despite its shortcomings) showed very clearly, the costs are huge.....

Funding needed for true sustainability,not greenwash guidelines

Last year they held a meeting in Center Parcs, in the heart of Sherwood whilst dozens of housing estates were being built destroying ancient woodland, other devolpments have been smartly built by pouring more concrete next to river on the floodplain.
If Nottingham to be one of top 40 EU cities, how about making Nottingham a Climate & Peace City. We have a green reputation & dont need gun crime funded by the billion dollar heroin & crack market which maintains death squad regimes backing oil corporations in S.America & Afghanistan.
EMDA,etc can fund sustainable projects like those in St Annes Allotments & Hockerton more & use them as a model, not just tokenly, we could draw in more investment,help save the environment & boost the local economy, this would encourage more tourists also & hopefullu make those flying here to see Robin Hood consider more ecological ways
