Nottingham Faslane 365 sign-up stall

Ava Lockon | 03.03.2007 17:05 | Faslane | Anti-militarism | Nottinghamshire

People from Nottingham Faslane took to the Market Square this Saturday to spread the word about our impending trip up to Scotland to blockade the evil Trident nuclear weapons base.

There was much interest from passers by and many leaflet describing the Faslane 365 blockade and the abhorrent plan to spend £70,000,000,000 updating theses weapons of mass destruction, were distributed. Perhaps the contrast between the governments’ willingness to spend this enormous sum on Trident with its announcement this week that public service workers will only get a 1.9% pay increase helped our successful recruitment drive.

The Nottingham group are just one of dozens of groups from around the world who will be taking turns to blockade Faslane.

WE STILL NEED MORE PEOPLE TO JOIN US TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL BLOCKADE

If you are interested contact us on  nottingham@faslane365.org.

We meet every Monday at 7.30pm at the ASBO centre, Burns Street Nottingham and all people opposed to Trident are welcome.

More info on Nottm Faslane 365

05.03.2007 17:56

Barely 3 weeks to get it all sorted out, so it is vital that those that have expressed an interest in the Nottm Blockade of Faslane Trident Missile Base turn that interest into a definate commitment.

If you have not yet done so please confirm details of your travelling to Scotland on Friday 30th March. Email  nottingham@faslane365.org (or phone 07849 208143). Let the contact know if you need or can offer transport - car pooling or use of a minibuses would be a huge help.

It is hoped that everyone supporting the campaign will get to at least one of the remaining planning meetings (only 3 more after today) so that we can all know each other better and build the mutual support needed for a successful blockade.
Meeting details at  http://www.veggies.org.uk/event.php?ref=843

Sub-groups are working on the logistics of travel, accommodation, catering, legal support and the tactics of the blockade itself. If you are interested in any of these, get in touch.

It is not expected that everyone will be able to cover all their costs, so the fundraising effort is critical too. To help save all us taxpayers at least £40 billion and rising, Nottm Faslane 365 needs to raise 0.000005% of that amount (£2000).

Are you involved with a group that could pledge support to the mission?

If you are unable to travel to Faslane yourself could you sponsor someone to go in your place?
If so please email  nottingham@faslane365.org

A fundraising benefit is proposed to be held at the Sumac Centre on Sunday 18th March. Details to be confirmed - would you like to get involved?
Details will be at  http://www.veggies.org.uk/event.php?ref=1010

NVDA Training Days : Saturday 24th March 2007 to Sunday 25th March at the Sumac Centre.

its a phallic-acy,countries without nukes do better economically& no first hits!

05.03.2007 21:52

The lunatics have been in charge for so long people the media have been conditioned to lies, we can continue to wake people up, like we have done on climate change.
The governments argument is its about protection?, no its a phallicacy, countries without nukes do better economically without nukes & on the frontline of nuclear war we would get hit far more.
Britain would suffer worse than almost any other country in a nuclear war, between USA & Russia who still point at each other & occasionally accidently go to defcon1 when weather ballooons or other objects are mistaken for strikes.
In a recent incident at NORAD, top US politicians happened to be visiting when the then state of the art system went into Defcon 1 accidently & reassuringly chaos ensued.

We can make a difference, we can highlight the issues & stop this robbery in the name of mass genocide, Sky net is M.A.D

Nuclear weapons complex supporting nukes also gives massive oppurtunity to terrorists.

Uranium & toxic nuclear industry is big business that uses inefficient old nuclear techniques more toxic because it provides money for the uranium mining lobby & material for nuke bombs & nuclear depleted shells that are being sprayed all over the "rag heads" in middle east
