Only an excuse?

So the phone companies will be legally obliged to store communication data and the gprs location of individuals for the Civil Service to review. That's handy, given that GCHQ already do this quietly without drawing attention to themselves.

War on Want: G8 turn their backs on the world’s poor

Campaigners distance themselves from Geldof praise for G8

Having released their own separate media statements in response to the disappointing G8 communique, War on Want and the World Development - 2 UK based development NGOs who have been uneasy about the way in which Make Poverty History has been co-opted by the government and its celebrities - were so disgusted by the Bono and Geldof press conference that they issued a joint statement in condemnation. The question is: why it is only these 2 NGOs who have the guts to come out and speak truth to power?

The Voices and the Violence in Auchterarder

No borders? Us and them? When I began to write the day after the march in Gleneagles, it was the violence that griped my mind, that formed the words. general statement on police allowing G8 protest

i know this is the wrong space to publish this kind of mainstream statement, but i posted it on bbc "have your say"- while submitting it I realised that they wont publish it anyway. So, posting it here is kinda just to beat my frustration with the corporate media.

The BBC discussion was on the issue of allowing G8 protests.

Get a clue -- terrorists don't throw rocks, London bombings and the G8

British and London authorities should be ashamed of themselves. While
1500 London police are over in Scotland, part of a 15,000-strong
policing force, watching people chant and march
against the G8, they leave their home unprotected from real terrorists.
