how low can Indymedia go?

28.10.2005 19:45

Can we please hide this repulsive piece of Blair/Bush/Zionist propaganda. I am assuming this sickening piece of racist crap was not posted as an official Indymedia article. What next on Indymedia??? Given the vile propaganda that gets posted sometimes, I guess we're just waiting for someone to create a film called "The Eternal Muslim" and link it here- oh wait, wasn't that what the article above did in words and pictures.

BTW- when the worst propaganda was created in Nazi Germany, it was considered BELOW the acceptable range of material that the German people could be influenced by. Thus, the most grotesque stuff is FAR more familiar to us, post-WW2, than it ever was to the average citizen of Nazi Germany. However, the poster above shows that he/she considers the average viewer of Indymedia susceptible to a type of repulsive propaganda than even Hitler rejected- something worth thinking about.

Jeez, chillout..

I'm afraid that's the world we're living in bro.. it's like that.. and raising money for an organisation that's almost universaly popular and raising peoples consciousness of these things is no bad thing.. Coming to terms with things that actually happen elsewhere (in no small part because of us in the west) is always gonna be harsher than sweeping it all under the rug or windowdressing it in a 'nice' media friendly campaign.

Anyway, I fail to see how this is racist.. people are just people, I think the problem's with your reasoning, or lack of.. Let's face it, most of this is happening abroad while where we're snuggly & safe in Blighty, sitting around mouthing off and being cynical about everything.. it just so happens that people abroad are often different colours, big deal, hold the presses! By your definition, showing anything bad happening overseas in the hope of spurring westeners into acknowledging it and hopefully acting on it is sub-nazi propoganda, better get on the blower to Oxfam and Geldof immediately then, start a boycott, that'll fix the world!

Drop the cynicism/paranoia and go check out that event, the line-up is XXX FIT, the cause is good, and if you still really object to the fliers, go explain your position to the organisers, I'm sure they'll hear you out.

I'll give you one opportunity before I say what I have to say. Define exactly how these designs are in any way, shape or form racist documents.

you waste

30.10.2005 00:04

You fool. this if anything is trying to get people to look at the underlying issues driving people to support terrorism, not put them off it in favour of the uk government.

"drop bombs" planes drop bombs! kinda like the uk/us ones in iraq!

ahmed

Yer but no but

The flyers only depict suicide bombers and do not focus on other terrorist groups like the US/UK government who are responsible for more deaths than the people its showing.Unless of course the organisers dont think that their government should be put in the same category?....

Say it as it is

Doh!

So when we printed these flyers for Drop Beats Not Bombs event in April I suppose we were being Islamic extremists and obviously being one-sided in our approach by clearly not demonstrating what "The Terrorists" get up to???????

Do yourself a favour, try to be a smidgen more informed about things before launching yourself into such small-minded and unfounded rhetoric freefall which will undoubtedly result in a very messy impact at ground level once you realise what an idiot you've become.

Fair Play

31.10.2005 01:49

When i went on the site i clicked on the leaflets option and only saw the ones of suicide bombers. It was the first time i heard of this organisation so i didnt know much about it and jumped to conclusions about the program the movement follows based only on the pics I saw.

My bad

Yeah, the site is curently being worked on. It's fair comment that we haven't got the older flyers up on the site but we will get there eventually.
