Biohazard demo report from Ledbury

SSAT | 09.07.2006 00:21 | Animal Liberation | Bio-technology | Birmingham

Over 30 activists, many in white boiler suits and dust masks carrying biohazard banners, posters and placards, silently marched into the town of Ledbury just after midday Saturday leaving from the railway station to highlight the hazardous chemicals that are stored at the animal testing lab Sequani limited which is just on the outskirts of the town on the Bromyard road.

Recently, four fire engines and a specialist incident unit were deployed to the lab to deal with a leaking refridgerator and fire. Four firefighters underwent a decontamination procedure afterwards.

Scores of leaflets were handed out to members of the public alerting them to the danger that lies on their doorstep which also suggested concerned citizens ask Sequani directly exactly what chemical was in the leaking refridgerator at their site as well as complaining to the council with any health concerns regarding the storage of these chemicals so close to their homes.

The highly visual march then moved back through the town turning off to a busy roundabout on the Hereford road where about 27 police officers were waiting. Ledbury was most definately highlighted as a potential biohazard risk which passersby could not fail to notice due to the dozens of biohazard symbols adourning the roundabout.

The 90 minute demo at the labs afterwards was again a peaceful affair with banners displayed opposite the labs for all around to see. Vegan food and cold/ hot drinks were welcomed by those present!

The only incident of the day came when police protecting the labs took offence to having the mickey gently taken out of them where they decided said mickey taking activist was committing an offence by wearing a 'McSHIT' sweatshirt and held him for 15 minutes before releasing him.

Good on the activist! McDonalds ARE FULL OF SHIT! Destroying the planet with environmental pollution, plundering vast swathes of land to feed cattle, feeding unhealthy crap to people and murdering billions of animals! What better title for them!

Bar the above, the day went well and not for one minute did anyone present forget about the animals trapped in hell inside the Sequani lab.

The Biohazard theme will continue into the future making sure nobody living in the vicinity forgets about the potential dangers that are posed by having dangerous chemicals stored on the Bromyard road.

A BIG Thank You to all the amazing activists that turned up after enduring long journeys to join in the demo and show solidarity.
