Estimates from two people on the ride agreed on a figure of 21, which is one of the highest turnouts so far on a Birmingham Critical Mass. There were a number of new people on this ride; it seems CM is increasing in popularity. Also popular was the post-ride social with people not on the ride turning up to that.

There is currently a proposal for a bicycle maintainence co-op to form around/from the energy of Brum CM.

Not The Largest Brum CM!

There have been larger Brum CM rides in recent years, including a turnout of around 50 when a ride was held on a Saturday in June. Subsequent Saturday rides turned out to be very unpopular maybe because the Friday rides were still happening anyway.

We do seem to be having a lot of new enthusiasm for CM at present. How can we continue to draw back the old Massers? A few showed their faces on Friday. It seems their main reasons for not attending CM have been to do with riding too slowly and the odd person blocking lanes dangerously. Slow rides which block lanes will come naturally as the number of riders increases.
