Last month, Derby Hospitals NHS Trust announced that ward 20 at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary will close in February and more than 100 staff from surgical services, who care for patients after operations, will have their jobs downgraded.
Unison has mounted a campaign against the cuts and has invited all of its 2,000 members working in Derby hospitals to attend meetings and put together an action plan.
But the nurses it represents say they have been unable to attend meetings because they have been too busy working.
The trust has also been holding its own meetings with staff, but many staff say they have not had time to attend the meetings.
The trust says that staff can watch a video of chief executive Julie Acred talking about the cuts online on its internal website. It also denies claims that wards are short-staffed.
Unison will hold another campaign meeting for members and non-members at 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 9, at Derby Conference Centre, in London Road.
