One day,Two Barclays Demos

Loud & Clear?
Loud & Clear?

OMG there using a megaphone!!
OMG there using a megaphone!!

The culprits
The culprits

All ten of us arrived at our 1st Barclays of the day. With megaphone, leaflets and placards in hand.Ready to inform every passerby and Barclays employee of what there involved in.Most people were very receptive, shocked at the link with HLS,stating they will join the campaign and boycott Barclays.Others, however, accused us of “Never goin after the breeders” and spouting “Just you wait till you get ill”.All which just made us more determined to give it to Barclays, loud and clear.

Unfortuntely to begin with,we had problems with CSO’s(community support officers) who not only stated it was illegal to use a megaphone but unkindfully try to slap our camera out of hands whilst we were filming them(for our own protection). We wanted to know the supposed law ,which states you can’t use a megaphone in a non-residential area,so they called a further 4 (real) coppers to badger us and disregard our rights. They explained,in the middle of the city centre(with shops galore),that this was a residential area!! We continued our demo, only to be told, that we can’t call Barclays bank “animal abusers” because there not(according to the police). Many members of the public swore they wouldn’t bank with Barclays and they would search for another bank(if they did)

After this we moved on to our 2nd Barclays of the day and got welcoming support from people who stopped.Barclays again called the police and they became private security.Security for what we weren’t quite sure as it was a legal and peaceful demo. We continued SHAC outreach till Barclays closed at 5

Smash HLS!!
