Birmingham

From 7am Pickets are expected at most larger council and civil service buildings, with earlier pickets likely at refuse collection depots.

Hospitals will be staffed as on Christmas Day, and there are expected to be pickets at hospitals

Schools will probably be closed, and there will not be pickets at closed schools. Parents should be told by their school if the school will be closed, but given that almost every teacher will be on strike that day, it should be expected for all schools to be closed. Birmingham City Council had a list of school closures on 30th June, and will probably repeat this list.

10am Local Rallies arranged in Selly Oak (by the University Main Gate, near the Fire Station); Handsworth (by the Library on Soho Road) and East Birmingham (at East Birmingham Hosptial)

TUC March and Rally
March route and assembly details yet to be confirmed, as discussions are taking place with authorities. Our guess would be an 11:30am assembly with march starting at 12noon at Lionel Street Car Park, with a march route similar to that of the Liberal Democrat conference (but in reverse), ending up at the NIA.
1:30pm Rally at the National Indoor Arena (NIA). Doors will open from 12:30pm.
