Bridgepoint Capital (owners of Leeds airport) Offices in London Disrupted

This morning a group of 18 climate change campaigners briefly occupied the offices of Bridgepoint Capital in Warwick Street in London. Bridgepoint Capital, a private equity firm, bought Leeds Bradford Airport in April and is presseing for further expansion.

A banner reading "Yorkshire's Flooding You Daft Pudding!" was unfurled and yorkshire puddings handed out to management. A statement was also read out to management and the offices covered in stickers. The brief occupation lasted for 30 minutes before the campaigners left. There were no arrests and indeed there were no police in attendance at the action.

This action was led by the Yorkshire barrio, who went to the offices to speak with James Murray with three demands:

1) Drop the plans to massively expand Leeds/Bradford Airport

2) Close down Leeds/Bradford Airport completely.

3) Use the 150 million pounds from Leeds City Council to turn the airport into an ecopark.

Nive one Yorkshire folk : ) May this be just the start of a sustained campaign to stop this ridiculous expansion plan at Leeds Bradford airport.

Just to clarify...

The action was coordinated by an affinity group from Yorkshire, as opposed to the Yorkshire neighbourhood (barrio). However, the action did signify the launch of what we hope will become a regional if not national campaign against the expansion plan for Leeds Bradford International Airport.

Also, there were no stickers but A4 posters blue tacked to windows.
