2nd NORTHEN MARCH AGAINST RACISM

TCAR | 06.10.2008 12:07 | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | Migration | Birmingham

A LIVELY MARCH THROUGH NEWCASTLE WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE 25 TH OF OCTOBER

Following the success of the first Northern March Against Racism in January and the Conference in June, Tyneside Community Action for Refugees (TCAR) has decided to call a second Northern March Against Racism on 25th October - and we’d like your support. The aim of the march is to continue building links between different anti-racist movement's and to demonstrate our support for these struggles

IN TCAR WE ARE CLEAR THAT THE ATTACKS ON RIGHTS OF ASYLUM SEEKERS AND OTHER IMMAGRANTS ARE BEING USED AS A TESTING GROUND FOR NEW MEASURES OF REPRESSION, FROM ELETRONIC TAGGING, TO THE INCREASED USSAGE OF THE STOP AND SEARCH TO ID CARDS AND EVEN ERROSION OF WORKERS RIGHTS

ATTACKS ON ASYLUM SEEKERS CAN NOT BE DISENTANGLED FROM EUORPE'S INCREASINGLY RESTRICTIVE IMMAGRATION LAWS NOR FROM BRITIAN'S ROLE OVERSEA'S.

IS IT NOT RACIST TO CLAIM THAT IRIQI CIVILLIANS ARE SAFE WHEN BRITISH WORKERS ARE NOT?

WHAT, APART FROM RACISM , MEANS THAT BRITISH COMPANIES FEEL THHAT IS ACCEPTIBLE TO PLUNDER MINERALS FROM DRC CONGO AND AMONGEST OTHER COUNTIERS MAKEING DEALS WITH WARLORDS WHILE THE BRITISG GUVERMANT SUPPORT DICTATORSHIP'S AND SENDS VICTIMS OF RAPE AND TORTURE BACK TO DIE IN PEISON CAMPS

AT THE TIME OF ECONOMIC CRISIS ITS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT FOR ALL PROGRESSIVE ORGANSITION AND INDIVIDUALS TO STAND FIMLY AGAINST RACISM RACISM IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE USED TO DIVIDE ANY WORKING CLASS STRUGGLE AGAIMNST DETERIORTATING LIVING CONDITIONS AMD WHERE POSSIVLE TO DIRVERT THESE STRUGGLES EVEN FROM THE BEGINNINGS

TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER

Front for FRFI

06.10.2008 22:27

Sadly TCAR has become a front for Fight Racism Fight Imperialism; which is the youth wing of the Revolutionary Communist Group.

At their events you will have to put up with pretend petitions to get your details, being badgered to buy their newspaper and invited to attend FRFI meetings.

It's a shame as TCAR had a lot of potential and good will among anti-racist groups in Newcastle until FRFI decided to use it as a recruiting tool.

Youth wing?

Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! isn't the youth wing of the RCG. It's the name of their paper. And it has lots of interesting stuff about asylum seekers' struggles in it so I don't see why the people who sell it shouldn't be involved in TCAR. As I understand it the RCG was one of a number of groups who set up TCAR and hasn't just suddenly joined for recruiting or any other purposes. The most active people in this organisation are asylum seekers organising to defend their rights. Are you saying you are not going to support them because you don't like one of the political groups who is supporting them? Shame on you.

Nice try, but in reality i think you'll find that the main players and organisers in TCAR are also the main players and organisers FRFI. That's not necessarily bad (even if FRFI's views are at times laughable and absurb), but it is a shame that a chance at starting a community based action group for asylum seekrs/refugees etc has been turned into a recruiting ground for the trots.

Clarification

Hello to all,

To David. Even though I've read your comment several times, I still don't understand what you are trying to imply. Are you basically saying that asylum seekers are so thick, they are unwittingly being used as puppets for another organisation? Is it an attempt to sabotage the Northen March?

TCAR is an independant group with independant aims and objectives. I'm an asylum seeker myself, and have been involved in TCAR for about a year and an half, I also know the dediciation of the members (mainly asylum seekers), I find your comments very offensive.

If you have had any issues with RCG in the past, I'll ask you to contact them direstly and to just leave TCAR out of it

If you are willing to understand more about TCAR and want to see how it work, our general meetings are open to anybody. You'll then get your facts right.

Noella, acting Chair of TCAR
