BNP presence in Manchester tomorrow Wednesday 17th November

myob | 16.11.2004 15:53 | Anti-racism

The BNP may be present in Manchester tomorrow Wednedsday 17th November

Tomorrow, Manchester University's Student Union is planning to debate a motion banning members of the BNP from becoming members of the Student Union.

There are indications that the BNP wish to have a presence outside the Student Union building on Oxford Road. This must obviously be met by a corresponding anti-fascist presence. Among others, Unite Against Fascism are asking people to offer "disciplined and peaceful" opposition to any BNP supporters gathered outside the building.

The UAF have asked people to arrive outside for around 12PM. The more the merrier, as they say.

The Labour party is behind the UAF, if they need help they can call in the army, I personally will never help the Labour party, they are fascists themselves

sandra

Fascism is enemy number one. Always.

16.11.2004 21:34

Don't be silly Sandra. I'm not in the UAF, and I'm no fan of Blair's Labour either. But I sure as hell don't want the BNP running our streets. By digging into your sectarian bunker, you're giving the far-right a big hand.

Sorry?

Sandra, are you on drugs? That's the most ill informed uneducated post anyone has ever posted here.

The trouble with you lot is you can't keep more than one idea in your head at the same time. The Labour Party are indeed implementing a programme that would give most BNP members wet dreams - mass murder of Muslims and Arabs, draconian immigration laws, imprisonment of dissenters. And I certainly wouldn't vote for them in the UAF's 'anyone is better than the BNP' bollox. But none of that means you should boycott a demo against overt rather than closet fascists.

Get a grip.

Facism, Sandra and Wolves

17.11.2004 09:41

Crying wolf.

The word facist is used way too much. So much in fact that it has lost its meaning to many people in their usage.

Maybe it was the Young Ones. Maybe it's the accusing tone of many people 'on the left' whatever that means nowerdays.

But the truth is that the labour party aint fascist. Sure you could say some legislation and some policing has fascist overtones. More like it's authoritarian or warmongering individuals.

But facism itself has more to do with people like Berlusconi and what happened in genoa with endemic torture than the labour party. Confronting the jackboot of fascism in the streets of the uk or in genoa tells you what facism really is.

Against racism and fascism where ever it is

I think the BNP is a vile racist, violent, homophobic and fascist party of reaction and should be opposed.

Perhaps what Sandra is refering to is that for immigrants it is not the BNP that is deporting them but the Labour Party. For Muslims and others it is not the BNP who is using the Anti-Terrorism legislation but the Labour Party. For young people in council estates it is not the BNP who is using curfews under the ASBOs but the Labour Party. For the people of Iraq it is not the BNP who have gone to war against them but the Labour Party. The large number of black and Asian people in bad housing, high unemployement, imprisoned, harrassesed and sometimes killed by the police or in prisons, suffer not at the hands of the BNP but this Labour Government.

This is the same Party who is using UAF to encourage those black and Asian people otherwise dissolusioned with its draconian policies and war mongering to vote Labour for fear of something worst.

The BNP must be challenged and kept off our streets - their violence and attacks must be fought back against. But the Labour Government muust be opposed to for what it is doing every single day, in every part of this country and around the globe.

Dont worry

17.11.2004 15:33

Sandra,

Lots of us agree with you.

I wouldn't stand with the Labour party for any reason.

Fuck'em they want help then they can call on the US army or the TA or even the British Army or failing that the Police.

And I dont buy any of this 'we all must fight facsism' bollox either. We'll fight it in our own ways not one with a Labour or SWP agenda.

Bollox to political parties - they are only in it for themselves...
