RBL dithers while BNP donations con-trick is exposed

BNP charity offer is no offer

For a so-called political party that constantly appears to be teetering on the edge of financial collapse, the BNP seems to have become astoundingly generous to charities in the past couple of months - or that's what it would like us to believe.

In fact, it has done very little for charities except to make hollow promises that are exploited for its own purposes on the BNP's website, giving the visitor the impression that the party is acting responsibly by supporting its chosen causes while actually doing nothing except taking the kudos for its unperformed acts of generosity.

A week or two ago, we reprinted an article in which the Institute of Fundraising Scotland, a leading fund-raising body, warned charities to beware of undeclared donations from the British National Party after a number of good causes claimed they were duped into accepting money from the far-right group. In several cases, the BNP claimed credit for donations to charities who have never knowingly accepted money from the party and in several cases would refuse it if it were ever to be openly offered.

Colonel William Shuttlewood, a director of the Gurkha Welfare Trust, one of the charities the BNP claims to have made donations to, said it would never knowingly accept money from the BNP. Al Sutton, chairman of Troop Aid, another unknowing possible recipient, said: 'We are not associated with any political party, especially the BNP', while the Down’s Syndrome Association vehemently denied a claim on the BNP website that it had asked the party to help it raise funds...

BNP charity.

29.09.2009 17:56

BNP money is the same as any other money. The Queen, the NHS and all charities which receive tax money are in receipt of money from BNP members as BNP members pay tax like anyone else.

And all public employees, including nurses, social workers and council 'equality officers' are paid in part by money from BNP taxpayers. We never hear of them refusing to accept this cash do we?

Any charity which can afford to refuse money because of who gives it won't be getting any of my cash. They are obviously are rich enough to be choosy and thereforre don't need any money from me.

Pete

it isn't really a "free" gift though

29.09.2009 19:01

It sounds OK at first that you are just getting free cash off the BNP and you will use it better than them. But the point is that it isn't "free" in all senses of the word. The BNP know that accepted donations will be worth their weight in gold in PR terms, leading to more exposure and more taxpayers' money for electioneering in the long run.

If you want charities to be just about accumulating money, then fine. But if you want them to change the world for the better in some way, this isn't the way to go.

Beware the neo-Nazi BNP and EDL trolls on Indymedia!

"Pete" is actually a leading member of the YoungBNP (and intimate friend of Hitler lover Mark Collette), though he will always deny this, just as Nick Griffin denied the Holocaust happened. No wander he loves to stick his tongue up Cyclops cheating ass.

It's about time that Indymedia started deleting posts from neo-nazi BNP trolls.

Intolerance

01.10.2009 18:15

Bertrude you really should try to not to advocate censorship of views you don't like. It makes you sound like an elitist bigot with authoritarian tendencies. You probably are one. You also seem to be labouring under the illusion that the dimwitted masses need you and your pals to shield them from political ideas they might not be able to cope with as well as you can.

PS

Thank you for describing me as young.

The Unrealistic Donations of the BNP

02.10.2009 13:08

Any Charity that gets an offer of money from the BNP should wait until it has the cash in their hands (not cheque - suprising number of those bouncing lately) before they say they would take a donation from the BNP. Seems like the BNP is scamming supporters for party funds and "making" donations that never turn up after the publicity they generate. Which leaves veterans, who faught in the war for Peter the Troll, high and dry. Kind of elitist that.
