Charges have finally been dropped against the four activists who blocked the runway of Brize Norton in an attempt to disrupt preparations for war.
This week, charges of 'failure to leave land' (similar to aggravated trespass) were finally dropped against the four activists - from Oxford and elsewhere - who, on 20th Febuary, locked themselves together on the main runway of Brize Norton, preventing all take-off and landing for several hours.
This seems to be part of a wider trend. Some have speculated that the government is seeking to avoid publicity, since any court case allows activists and their solicitors a platform to argue the illegality of the war.
