Matt S | 27.01.2004 14:21 | Oxford

The occupation will be ending at 4 pm with a march to University Offices, anyone is welcome and encouraged to join us! Show your support for the people who have been occupying...

MARCH FROM EXAM SCHOOLS, 4 PM, TODAY!

Dear all,

The occupiers of the Exam Schools have decided to end the occupation at 4 pm,
by marching together to the University Offices and handing in a statement
of demands and principles to the Vice-Chancllor. You won't be breaking any
University statutes if you join the march...so please come along and show
your support for the people who have risked being fined and disciplined for
their opposition to fees.

Every time i turn my back, you students start ANOTHER thread to avoid dealing with the comments on the last one:  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2004/01/284429.html

By refusing to deal with the facts, or even check them in the first place, you reveal the bullshit factor of your cause.

We are quite busy!

27.01.2004 15:23

In case you hadn't noticed, we are quite busy occupying somewhere at the moment. Those of your arguments which aren't just random personal attacks or assumptions about people you know nothing about (all Oxford students, for example, aren't upper-class people who live in castles) I am sure will be answered when people have more time.

Suffice to say that you should be ashamed of yourself for supporting a bill which will
decrease access to higher education, siphon workers away from the public services and into private business, and cause a students choice of degree to be based on the ability
to pay rather than merit or interest.

Your points have in fact been answered ad nauseam. Do you really want to spend your
time posting the same arguments on every newswire article about students? We know what
you think, we don't agree with you. We're reporting news, you're just whingeing. So
please stop it. If you believe in fees so strongly, go and campaign for them and leave
us alone.

Touché!

27.01.2004 15:40

Well said, Matt S. I'm sick of reading reactionary bollocks by people WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER on this website having a go at these stewdents for having the nerve to stand up for themselves against the creeping privatisation of our education system.

Simple as that. Yes I know that most students are annoying; but so what? I find most hippies annoying but you can't legislate for that.

Charles Clarke is a cnut

yeah hippies are well annoying

but nice one on standing up for what you believe.

Fnarr! No my spelling of student was quite intentional - it was meant to be a reference to Steve Coogan's Paul Calf character's pronunciation.

As it happens I *do* have an English A Level - bloody good grade too considering I didn't do a spot of work 'cos I'm so hard and cool.

Charles Clarke is still a cunt

Oh ffs

"Suffice to say that you should be ashamed of yourself for supporting a bill which will

You NEED to decrease access to higher education. Right now the system's such a mess, there's too many graduates from shit unis doing shit courses and being unemployable. 45 applicants per graduate place. Decrease access and the degree will be valuable again.
