Ten activists decided to attend a lecture at Leicester University on physiology, given by the Director of the Medical Research Council Professor Colin Blakemore, well known for the atrocities he has carried out on animals with particular liking for experimenting on monkeys and sewing up kittens eyes with no medical advancement to humans whatsoever, other than to receive large research grants and to advance his career based on misleading papers.

Our aim was to highlight the suffering of the 'Oxford Two'. Two rhesus macaque monkeys who have been incarcerated inside Oxford University for fifteen years. At five years old these beautiful and extremely intelligent creatures were subjected to surgery to have parts of their brains removed and are known to have been used in an experiment funded by the Medical Research Council which is where Colin Blakemore comes in. Animal rights campaigners who halted Cambridge plans to build a primate research center have succeeded in temporarily closing the Oxford Department of Pharmacology this past weekend, for fear of invasion by demonstrators against the university's new animal house, under construction nearby, Oxford pharmacologist Les Iversen told The Scientist.

"We are now receiving the full brunt of the victorious group that managed what they consider a triumph in Cambridge," said Iversen. "There are demonstrations every 3 or 4 days. They are small and peaceful, but meanwhile, behind the scenes, they are targeting vulnerable groups, like in this case the building contractors - their vehicles have been attacked, tires slashed, paint poured."
