oh, right, I see ...

We're going to round them all up and make them wear badges, are we? Put them in concentration camps, are we? Burn down the mosques? Break all the windows of 'muslim' shops in a new 'Kristalnacht'?

Don't sully the memory of them whose suffering was genuine.

god ben, you are funny

30.08.2006 22:47

My lord, as a Christian Arab I find these comments from Ben to be hilarious as Muslims, Christians and Jews all lived together quite peacefully in the East before outside interference.

I have never once been abused by Muslims, Christians or Jews in the East but over here everyone is so concerned over each others religions.

We care more for feeding our families and surviving in the day to day horrors of the real world, than in chasing your phantoms.

They are your ghosts, not ours and infact your father, son and holy ghost comes from the Middle East, not Rome!

Round up on the way

30.08.2006 23:59

The Sun recently advocated the opening of lots of ex-army camps with hundreds of acreage to incarcerate the burgeoning prison population
What's this for?
Of course it's happening again, dummy
The Zionist state is a replicant of the Nazi state with a Seal of Solomon as a substitute for the swastika, and fully backed and advanced by the neocons and new Labour
It's no secret

Indymedia is no place for anti-semitism...

31.08.2006 02:30

There is plenty of Zionist bashing on the web, post elsewhere.
People are people in the world of Indymedia, and people that live in Israel are paying the price of this war, through their taxes, frayed nerves and with their now land, air and water - all polluted with depleted uranium. Covering the northern neighbour with the stuff was suicidal, and now is the time for 'Exodus II', not more Israel bashing.
We have to learn to get along and NEVER in history as anti-semitism helped, has it? Invite any Israeli friends over here and help them to start over. Thank-you.

Zionists Whine

31.08.2006 06:29

The Useful Idiots for Fascism in Israel and the US are growing steadily more angry, as they exponentially lose support as their LIES, failures, crimes, beliefs, and allegiances are exposed. Let us pray they can be stripped of power before they do something terrible, in the hopes that they can frighten people into submission once more.

Take detailed notes ...

First, They Came For The Afghans, But I Wasn't Afghani ...

31.08.2006 09:35

Ah, those poor, poor Afghanis. How they must look back with nostalgia to the days of the Taleban. Men were real men, then, since they had to wear beards. No nambypamby prisons for them either - nothing like a good public execution or flogging or amputation. Ah, those were the days ... and what do they have now? Only the ballot box. Poor folk - let us weep for them.

Please remind us what joys the ballot has brought the Afghanis.

I'm led to believe (by mainstream media as it goes) that most of Afghanistan is under the control of thuggish warlords, that women are still the subjects of violent intimidation and that the Taleban are in the ascendancy.

Please put us straight

Thankyou

my sceptic tank is full of shit

Afghanistan

31.08.2006 11:14

What joys has the regime change brought? Well, there aren't any public executions any more. You are allowed to shave. Women are allowed to be educated.

If you think the country is going to go from the Taleban regime to a nice Swedish style social democracy in a year or two, then you'd be wrong. Sure, it's got warlords. When did it not have? But the only way you'll weaken their power is to have a genuinely democratic government. That hasn't happened yet. But it can't happen until you allow the ballot box. So take your head out of your own arse.

This Cartoon

31.08.2006 17:53

Cartoon: (from wikipedia (in part)) In modern print media, a cartoon is an illustration, usually humorous in intent. This usage dates from 1843 when Punch magazine applied the term to satirical drawings in its pages, particularly sketches by John Leech. The first of these parodied the preparatory cartoons for grand historical frescoes in the then-new Palace of Westminster. The original title for these drawings was Mr Punch's pencillings and the new title "cartoon" was intended to be ironic, a reference to the self-aggrandising posturing of Westminster politicians.

I think this is neither Anti-Zionism, nor suggesting a 'final solution' for Muslims.. It is a cartoon in the sense of above, albeit with HEAVY irony. I feel it has been published to make us stop & think where all this is going. Especially if you strike 'Westminster' from the above paragraph.

When WILL, ALL of us, view each other as PEOPLE (who have the same worries, dreams, aspirations, who all bleed when cut & hurt when hit & live & love & all one day die) and stop using labels or badges...

take your squabbles over labels elsewhere...

peace all

Scepticu should visit Afghanistan

01.09.2006 16:07

Pop over there for a few weeks and join in the fun of the new popular game called 'Freedom: US Style' Last I heard over there opium production (where before eliminated) is now growing at record levels, the taliban still control a lot of the country and the other part not controlled by the taliban is controlled by an ex-Unical employ. So u got half the country run by the previous taliban regime funded by the freedom loving west up till 2001 (but then again they didnt know then about the horrors of the regime did they) and the other half run by texas.

PS: U G.W in disguise?? Coz u really sound like him sometimes.

Know Your "Enemy"

02.09.2006 01:16

Well, I certainly think there is an organized campaign against Muslims. I have been witnessing it for the last several years (way before 9/11). In the sanitized web of IndyMedia UK, you may not realize how racist and vitriolic it is... but just by wandering through the comments' columns of different sites you see it clearly; and it's pretty ugly. It's "ragheads", "diaperheads", "turds", "Islamicfascists", "Islam’s a cancer that has to be eradicated". In fact, if you exchanged Jewish" for Muslim (or Islam, or their favorite "islamofascists") ...you'd think you were reading propaganda from Nazi Germany (and why not, what's the difference?)

And why this campaign?

Simply, in order to have war you must first define the "enemy". And that's exactly what has been going on for, at least, the last 5 years. At first it was presented as a war against the government of Afghanistan, then against a particular Iraqi, and then against the government of Iran...soon it will be clear that really, it's a war against Islam.

And now that president Bush has started referring to "Islamic fascists" be quite aware that this campaign has kicked into yet a higher gear.
